The Move

Well hello there. If you're wondering, which you probably are, my name is Montana Grey. I just moved from New Jersey to California with my mom because she got a job transfer. She's a lawyer and finally got a promotion, which made us move across the country and away from my friends

We've been driving for a week now, since my mom is scared of flying. Right now it's my mom's turn to drive and I'm looking out of the window.

As I looked out the window, I saw never ending acres of forest. Then I saw something black, but it was all blurry. When I looked closer, the big black blurry thing peered back at me. It had glowing yellow eyes and looked massive. Then, all of a sudden, it vanished.

"We're here!" my mom announced, awakening me from my daze.

When I looked out the windshield, I saw a magnificent house. It's two stories tall and is white with green shudders and has a really long driveway.

"Wow," was all I could say.

"I know honey, it's a pretty big house compared to our old apartment, but look at the bright side," my mom said, "you'll have you're very own bathroom instead of us sharing one."

"Seriously!?" I shouted with excitement.

Before my mom could respond, I jumped out of the car and bounded towards the front door and into the house.

I ran up the spiraling staircase to the top floor. I opened every door and examined each room to see what my new bedroom would be.

I was at the very last door. It was mahogany with a crystal shaped handle. I turned the knob and opened the door to a humongous bedroom. The walls were a deep violet color and it had a king sized bed in the middle of it. when I looked around the room I found three more doors.

The first door I opened was the bathroom. It was big, almost a third the size of the bedroom. I closed the door and turned to the second one.

When I opened the next, I saw that it was a walk-in closet. It was twice the size of the bathroom. There was a ton of space for my shirts, dresses, and skirts. There was also a lot of space for my shoes, not like I have a lot though. I finally moved to the third and final door.

The last door, apparently, led to a balcony that overlooked the gigantic backyard.

I was so amazed by all of this that I didn't even realize that somebody was calling my name.

"Montana!" my mom called.

"What?" I responded.

"Come get your stuff from the moving truck!"

"Okay! I'll be right there!"

It took me 10 trips to get all my crap from the moving truck. I really need to stop buying so many clothes.

I started hanging my shirts, dresses, and skirts in my closet and my pants in my dresser. Then I sat my shoes in the bottom of my closet.

After I was done, I flopped on my bed and took a break. I felt something poking my back and realized it was my phone. I checked the time; it was 7:33 p.m. I didn't know I could busy myself for five hours.

I went downstairs once again and I could smell a delicious aroma spilling out of the kitchen.

"There you are honey," my mom said, "you got here just in time, dinner's ready."

I nodded my head and grabbed a plate already filled with food and started to eat. After I finished my supper, I sat my plate in the sink and started back towards my room.

"Oh, don't forget to set your alarm for the morning." I heard my mom say.

"Why?" I asked puzzled.

"It's your first day at Greenview High tomorrow. Don't tell me you forgot?"

"No, of course not. How could I forget about my first day of school?" I said with a nervous chuckle.

I bolted upstairs before she could reply and into my room. I changed into my pajamas, brushed my teeth and washed my face.

Tomorrow is going to be a long day, I thought to myself.

Before going to bed I stepped out onto the balcony for some fresh air. As I inhaled the cool summer breeze, something caught my eye. I looked over to see what it was and saw that it was the same same pair of glowing eyes at the edge of forest border from earlier today. Then, just like before, it vanished.

On that note I crawled into bed to try to get some sleep, but I couldn't get those eyes out of my head.
