The Truth Hurts

Anna's POV

I flew back to the warehouse from where I was. I was about a mile away and covered in mud from that hole I pulled myself out of. The rain was cold on my skin and was coming down hard. It was the first rain storm we've had for months.

I stopped moving forward and just flew in place for a minutes. I saw the bloodshed occurring the the ground. I could see the former alpha ripping rogues practically in half. I saw my mother throwing rogues left and right and once in a while ripping a head clean off of a rogue.

I don't really appreciate rogues either so I was actually happy that they were killing them. I didn't notice till now that Brett was only 10 feet in from of me through boulders and small trees on the rogues. No that's just dirty.

I flew towards him and hit him in the head. "What the?" he said turning around.

I grabbed my mace from my belt loop, "surprised to see me, brother?"

"Oh my god. Yes! Come on let's go home."

"No! Not till that fucker gets what he deserves," I yelled at him. "Now, where is he?"

"Calm down Anna," he said getting closer to me.

I let my mace slide through my hand till I was holding it by the handle, "where!"

He looked warily at the mace and looked back up at me. Without a word, he pointed down towards the ware house. I looked at him for a few seconds and flew towards the building.

I broke through one of the glass panels and landed on the cement floor. I looked up and saw Dean in the nude holding Kale by the neck.

"Anna, it's you."

"Yeah it is me. Get off oh him and go home."

"But Anna I–"

"No. If you're gonna stay, we're gonna fight."

"Just hear me out," he turned to me and walked closer. "I love you. I wouldn't do anything to hurt you. Kaitlynn brainwashed me. She's part witch. She's the reason why you left."

"Is this true?" I asked her.

"Yeah, it is true. But I don't care anymore. I finally found my mate." She held up her right hand and I saw the hand she was holding belonged to Cain.

"What? But Cain I thought we–"

"Did you think I could honestly like someone as moody as you? This was just a plan to make sure you stayed on our side."

I felt my eyes change to black while I heard Kaitlynn start to laugh. I turned to her walked over and hit her in the side with my mace.

"Now to finish the plan," I heard Kale say and then a needle go into my neck.

"What the hell do you just do?!"

"The whole plan was to get you to our side. We knew you like to fight so I knew you'd find your way out of our "secret" dungeon. And, the only way to take out the alpha of a strong pack with a slow painful death," he said turning to Dean, "is by killing their mate."

After he said that I couldn't stop coughing. I fell to the floor and started coughing up blood.

"What the fuck did you inject her with?!" Dean yelled.

"Silver. That's for killing my brother you bastard."

I fell on my side and started shaking. I looked up and the last thing I saw was Dean shifting and attacking Kale.

Dean's POV

Anna's been in a coma for a few months. The doctors say she is healing like a human, slowly. They keep telling me that she'll wake up soon but I know she won't. It has been months since she was awake.

I told Brock to take over as alpha for a while until Anna's better. I told him I wouldn't know how long it would be but he understood.

Sometimes I lay next to her while she's "sleeping" and just talk to her. I do so because I hate hearing the beeps of the machines but also so she knows I'm here for her. I just hope she can hear me while in her comatose state.

I was reading one of her favorite books to her at the moment, Daughter of Smoke and Bone. It's a fictional novel about a girl who collects teeth and lives with creatures that look like different animals. It's pretty good so far. The book is set in Czechoslovakia but I've got no clue how to pronounce it.

So now I'm trying different ways to say it out loud when I hear a small scratchy voice, "it is pronounced check-oslovakia."

"Oh my god! You're awake!" I yelled hugging her.

She cleared her throat, "I have been for awhile, I just like hearing you read. I never knew you cared for books." She tried to sit up but couldn't so I helped her.

"Light headed?" I asked.

"And stiff as a board."

"Look, I really am sorry for falling for Kaitlynn's tricks. I should've known better from before. You know I love you with all my heart. I couldn't live without you, I barely did when you left us." I took a. keep breath, "so, do you forgive me?"

I watched her facial expression. She squinted her eyes and pouted her lips out. She's thinking pretty hard, I thought to myself.

Tell me about it, my wolf responded.

She's too cute for her own good, isn't she? I asked my wolf.

Damn straight, was his response.

"Not yet."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, you better figure out a better apology then that to get me to kiss you again. Ever."

"Don't worry, a plan is forming in my head as we speak."

"Better be," she said all sassy like.

"Looks like someone's back to normal."

"Mom!" Anna tried to yell but came out squeaky and ended with a cough.

"Sssh. You need to rest you voice sweetheart."

"I'll give you two some alone time," I said giving Anna's hand a squeeze. When I left the room I saw the rest of her family in the waiting area. "She's awake if you'd like to see her," I announced.

They stood in shock and ran into her room. I chuckled to myself and made it down to the kitchen and saw my mom cooking Chicken Alfredo. Yes, part of the pack hospital is in the pack house. People get homesick ya know!

"Eat," she said handing me a plate.

"How did you know?" I said sitting down at the kitchen table to scarf it down.

"You've barely come out of that hospital room and I can hear your stomach grumble from a mile away."

Makes sense, I thought.

I had four servings by the time I was full, "I'm gonna go take a nap mom."

"Good, you need it."

I yawned at least a dozen times before I reached my room. I tugged my shirt off lazily and fell on my bed and went straight to sleep.
