Graystar
Graystar stood beside Mysterypaw. She could tell her daughter was waiting for the signal to jump on Redtail. While the other group of would jump onto the RiverClan warrior, Purplefur.
She trusted the older warrior to stay loyal to his Clan. Whatever happened to Redtail and Mysterypaw? Did my daughter find out about this and make him no longer her future mate? No, she looked just as shocked when she looked at him. Graystar thought.
Graystar nodded to the group across the rival Clan warriors. Then she nodded to her own group. All of it happened so quickly.
She blinked and flinched as her group of warriors sprang at them. When she opened her eyes she saw Mysterypaw on Redtail and Brackenpelt on Purplefur.
She decided to get a closer look on her warrior. Redtail, it was definitely Redtail. Her daughter's face shown pain and anger at the same time. She knew the apprentice wanted to feed him to the eagles at the moment.
"Redtail," she snarled. "I thought I could trust you, and so did my da-... Uh.. Apprentice!"
Mysterypaw stared looking defeated. Her eyes were watering and her face dull. Her heart broken daughter dug her claws into him. "Gr-Graystar?" the apprentice began shakily. "Can you deal with him?"
This was hard for her to answer. She was wondering why her daughter didn't want to finish the warrior and see him in his punishment. Still surprised, she nodded.
The leader caught ahold of the warrior. She stared at the alone apprentice. She had no one to love. Her brother, Sunpaw, hated her thinking she killed Cloudpaw. Both of her hateful and jealous sister had died. Her "mother" hated her because she wasn't named by her. The apprentice had not enjoyed seeing Mosspelt loving Graystar. Mysterypaw didn't know that Graystar was her mother.
Oh if I just let my Clan go and raised my pups. They wouldn't be mean to one another or alone. the leader thought about her regrets.
"I'd like to be on the patrol to tale her home," the apprentice said. Graystar felt she had no choice bit to agree. Therefore she allowed her and other chosen warriors to start heading to the RiverClan camp.
When they had left it was just Highbark, Brackenpelt, and Graystar; who was still on Redtail.
Graystar met Highbark's eyes. The senior warrior almost always was waiting for an order. When Highbark was just a paw she respected Dapplestar until the end of the leader's days. She hunted with StarClan now.
"Okay. We are going to go through there," she said pointing her tail towards a bunch of trees. "Highbark you take the lead and Brackenpelt take the rear."
Both warriors bowed their head in agreement. The leader suddenly realized it was the gathering that night. Last moon a fight happened with WindClan. They finally asked for help from ShadowClan once they were almost out of warriors.
Mysterypaw is coming with me on this one. she told herself.
They got to camp easily, thank StarClan! It wasn't hard at all. The punished warrior stayed where the small group told him. Redtail waited patiently where the leader told him until they found a new spot for him. He was never ever going to be a warrior again.
Graystar knew she would never have a liking to him again. Even if Mysterypaw decided to be mates with him. There was a sudden worry that flew through her. Mysterypaw said she would tell Graystar when she wanted to be a warrior.
Did Mysterypaw wish not to become one because she lost the chance to become a medicine dog? she asked silently.
Redfang came out of her den quickly. "What's going on?" she asked. "What's Redtail doing in that corner? Shouldn't he be on a patrol or something?"
Graystar dozed for a few heartbeats before answering. "He is no longer a warrior. He has betrayed his Clan. Now we're wondering where to put him..."
Redfang eyes widened, but happily. "He could be my assistant. I've been needing help since Mysterypaw was no longer my apprentice."
"That's a brilliant idea!" she said praising the medicine dog like a pup. "Redtail from this point on you will be training as a medicine dog. And... Now you'll be known as-" she got cut off by Redfang.
"No-no-no-no.... No change names. Unless you call him something as a punishment..." Redfang's voice trailed off.
Graystar liked the medicine dog's idea. The leader ran up her cave steps and summoned her Clan. "Redtail has broken the warrior code. As his punishment he will have a change in his name for two, not two, three moons." Graystar continued. "He will take care of the elders, queens, and change all bedding with apprentices."
Everyone stared at the warrior. There eyes shone disappointment and disbelief. Graystar knew she had to say it at the gathering.
"From now on until the three moons are up Redtail will be known as, Code Breaker." she said before dismissing her Clan.
