The stranger invites Castiel to sit opposite him and Cas sees it as an opportunity to begin a further conversation.
The stranger deeply sinks into his seat, although he looks actively to Cas. Cas on the other hand is leaning forward, his clasped hands propping up his chin. He wants to speak to the stranger and find more out about him, but there's so many places to begin.
"What do you do for a job?" He asks curiously. He's always had these expectations and imagines what the stranger would be like, but he's never actually known.
"I'm an ex-lawyer." Is the answer from the man's mouth. Cas isn't surprised at all. "I say ex... I'm a part-practitioner and run a department simultaneously."
"Sounds fancy." Cas smiles. "That explains your look."
"My look?" The stranger says, cocking his head.
Castiel nods. "You just look like a lawyer, and the big scary guy."
For a moment Cas thinks he's offended him as he doesn't get an immediate response. But he smiles when he sees that the man bounces off of his light attitude.
"And you, you look like you're... tired." Expectantly, he has a sarcastic tone to his voice and smirks at Cas.
Castiel could sense that he had a jokey side. As he's thought many times before, he looks like the guy who has two personas: strict or sarcastic. That's why Cas was so taken aback this morning when he sounded so benevolent.
He reminds him slightly of his brother, Gabriel.
"I am tired." Cas comments. "With everything that's been going on..." He drifts off, not wanting to bore his stranger.
"Tell me." The man responds.
The two's body positioning swaps as the stranger becomes intrigued of Cas' story and leans forward with a curious eye. Whereas Castiel has slouched back, rethinking his current situation.
But he reminds himself he's in the other man's company and their eyes lock. Eventually Cas figures it'd be a wasted opportunity; he feels like this man's attention is hard to achieve.
"Well, it's not that big of a deal..." Castiel downplays the events that feel like they've ruined his life. "You know about Mittens," He starts.
He spies the man's mouth twitch but continues anyway.
"My neighbour - a batty old woman - comes to clean our apartment, right?" He doesn't wait for an answer. "Wait, that sounds mean. She's a lovely, lovely lady and she doesn't have to clean the place, she just likes doing it, and well..." He shrugs. "The type of cat Mittens is he's not allowed outside, and I was under strict orders by the shelter to keep him in... Audrey knew that, stupid Audrey." He murmurs a monologue, but the other man hears him anyway.
"Stupid Audrey, I got it." He says in a comical way, repeating Cas. Even his voice somehow uplifts Cas' mood.
Castiel crosses his legs. "I don't know why we let her, she can't clean to save-"
The man interrupts. "We?" He echos.
"Oh, yeah." Cas shrugs bashfully. "I, um. I live with two other people, a house share. I can't afford to-"
