Sarah POV

"Ms. Reese, take a seat" a young teacher welcomed me into her classroom. This was Auggies English class. "The resemblance between you and your sister is uncanny." I chuckled at her remark. "I'll take that as a compliment." I sat in front of her.

"We've been reading Hamlet. Recently." I could see she was resisting something. "Your sister is incredibly bright. For a kid who was homeschooled and then put back in the school system she's doing amazing. I know this is an adjustment period for Auggie. I know what she's been through. But at times she can be so detached. It's like she's not even here. I don't know what to do with her. She puzzles me. One day she could tell me all about her night and the next it's like she hardly knows me. She has such a hard time focusing. She tries to apply herself but it's just like she can't."

"I've talked to other teachers about Auggie. They say give her time. But if this is something we can fix now I want to." I was at a loss for words. "You think my sister has some sort of learning disability?"

The teacher gulped and continued. "I assure you Auggie is highly intelligent. When she can focus she performs far beyond what is expected of her. But it's about getting her to focus. I try to make adjustments for her. Bria tries to help her. This isn't an intelligence thing. More of an attention issue. I know this may be a lot to process. But I think that some sort of medication would help Auggie focus."

"I realize that this may have come as a surprise to you and I hope I haven't overstepped my bounds. I have come to care for Auggie greatly. I want to see her succeed. I strongly believe that this is what is best for your sister. I believe that we would see great changes in her."

I covered my mouth and then I heard a door open. I turned my head to find Conner standing in the doorway. "Sorry I'm late." He sighed. "I'm Connor, nice to meet you.." he reached his hand out waiting for the teacher to finish his line. "Miss. Bell. Lilly Bell." She shuck his hand. "This is my boyfriend. He's greatly involved in Auggies life, I thought that it would only be fair that he be aware of her performance in school."

Miss. Bell informed Connor of what she saw in Auggie. I was still trying to find ways that I could've noticed this change in her. How I could've helped her.

Auggie POV

"What do you think Aug? Scary movie or comedy?" I was putting the dishes from my dinner with Slyvie away as she was trying to select a movie. "Comedy. Duh." I rolled my eyes and giggled at her. "You're right." Slyvie clicked through the options on the TV. Slyvie was more of a friend than she was a guardian. It took her awhile to fully get used to having me around but I think she enjoyed it now. I was putting the last dish away when the door to the apartment opened.

I kept my back to the living room as my sister and Connor silently walked in. "What smells so good?" Connor asked standing at the bar looking into the kitchen. "Slyvie made dinner" I grinned at him.

"Auggie." Sarah broke the silence. I turned to her. "I need to talk to you." She motioned me towards her bedroom.

I sat on the bed and Sarah closed the door. "How have things at school been?" She asked. "Fine" she was visibly upset by something. "What do you want the answer to be?"
I questioned her. "Your teachers are worried about your focus, Auggie." She looked me square in the eye. "Focus?" I questioned. "They think you have ADD. I'm going to talk to Dr. Charles tomorrow morning and get you started on medication if deemed necessary."

"I'm sorry Auggie." She gulped. "Why?"

"I should've noticed. I should've caught on." I hugged Sarah quickly and held her for a few minutes. "You're doing great."

Natalie POV

"ADD?" I asked making sure I heard Sarah correctly. "I'm getting a prescription for her" Sarah nodded.

Gabby then walked into the ED where Sarah and I were talking. She looked concerned. "I was just at school." She said to Sarah. "Bria is going back home with her dad. Back to her old school. Auggie, She was really upset. She said she wished you could be with her." my sister lost so much and now a friend was being pulled away from her.
