Auggie POV

I was tired. I wasn't sure how much longer I could put up a fight. Sleep felt so good. It was pulling me under.

Dr. Charles came to see me after is been admitted. He said that I was a fighter. I wish I didn't have to be. Sylvie hadn't left my side. She held my hand and told me stories for hours.

I was starting to fall asleep when I heard someone say my name. It sounded like my mom, I Opened my eyes so quickly just to ses Sarah looking over me. "Do you remember that one time when you were 7 and we went on that bike ride and you totally ate it?" she laughed for a moment and I just smiled at her. "I was so worried you were hurt and mom would be mad. You were gushing blood from your knee but you just hopped up and said "don't be silly sister I'm too tough to be hurt." You've always been so tough Auggie."

I smiled at her. "Hey kiddo." Natalie smiled as she put on some hand sanitizer. "Are you my doctor now?" I asked. "Choi and I are gonna share you." She winked. "How are you feeling?"

"Never been better." I lied.

Natalie pulled up the gown I had on. My semi-fresh pink scar was exposed for her and my sister to see. "When you're done can I go on a walk?" I asked. "We were going to move you up stairs. How about instead of being rolled you can walk up there?" Natalie compromised.

"I want to go home." I panicked. "I'm afraid that can't happen right now. You're a candidate for another kidney but you have to stay in the hospital." Natalie informed me.

"Can Sylvie go home and bring me my homework I can't get behind while I'm in here." I asked Sarah.

"I'll leave you two alone. Maggie will be her soon to move you upstairs."

Moments later Maggie strolled into the room. "I thought I told you to stay out of my ED." She winked at me. I giggled at her. "Natalie said I get to walk." I sat up. "So I've been told. Better be faster than a snails pace." Maggie joked. I swung my legs around the bed and placed my feet on the floor. Maggie pulled the monitor next to me. We walked through the ED and to the elevator where we went upstairs and was led into the same room I was in last time.

"Same room." I muttered as I stood in the doorway. "Looks like it." Maggie sighed.

I think Maggie and my mom would've been good friends. I often wonder what things would be like now if my mom were around. I probably would not see Sarah as much. I wouldn't be the person I am.

I settled on to the bed sighing along with Maggie. "Hey good news," Maggie began saying noticing my sigh, I raised my eyebrow at her, "Natalie said I can let you go down to the caf and eat." she smiled. "I can get out of here." I grinned.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Standing infront of me was Stella, Kelly, Matt, Gabby, and Sylvie. "Hi!" I smiled widely at my older friends. Gabby was holding balloons and Kelly handed me a stuffed bear. I looked over at Sarah who was equally as touched by the gesture.

I noticed someone missing and my smile instantly dropped. "She had to go home." Gabby noticed. "She was here earlier, she talked to you while you were sleeping." Sylvie assured me. I shuck my head and looked at my lap. "All of firehouse 51 was out their waiting to hear about you." Stella said nudging me over so that she could sit on the bed next to me. I loved Stellas natural hair. I started playing with her curls. "Make yourself at home." Kelly laughed at Stella. "What's it look like I'm doing?" She joked back at him. "You guys make a cute couple." I siad letting go of her curls. "Oh Auggie we arent.." Stella began to protest but it was easy to see. "I'm not blind Stella." I protested back. Stella made a sour face at Kelly. "I knew it!" said Gabby a little too loudly. Matt Chuckled at the outburst.

"I need you to get my homework Sylvie." I remembered a question I'd previously asked. "Actually Aug, we were both going to run home for a bit. Stella offered to stay with you. Take you down to get lunch?"Sarah offered. When I was in the hospital before this idea would've terrified. But now I was comfortable and excited to stay in the company of Stella.

"Sounds good to me." I said as Stella playfully nudged me.

The rest of the group soon left and it was just me and Stella.  "So how does this work, you pull the thingy or I pull the thingy or do we tell a nurse or.." Stella's thought trailed off. "Go get Maggie." I pointed to the door. Seconds later Maggie was in the room. "I'm ready to eat lunch. Can you please tell Stella how to escort me." Maggie gave Stella a few basic rules. And we were off to the caf.

I pulled my IV lines next to me and we made small talk. When we got to the cafeteria Stella got food for the both of us. We sat at a table and I grinned and waved as I saw Dr. Charles pass us.

"You like him?" She asked shoving a bite of salad in her face. "I wish he were my real father if Im being honest."

"Where is your dad, if I may ask?"

"Well location wise he currently is in Chicago. But he was a dead beat. Never really in my life. Not even when I got real sick. Sarah had some time with him."

Stella shuck her head in understanding and continued to eat. "Do you love Kelly?" I asked abruptly. "I think I might." She answered wholeheartedly. "Is it fun to be in love?" She thought and then answered, "it just feels like it's meant to be."

Sarah POV

Auggies room was clean and organized. Her books were laid out with a list of things she needed to do. I grabbed them along with her laptop and threw it into her backpack. When I was her age my room was a mess, an eclectic representation of all aspects of my life. Auggie on the other hand had her room put together. Not exposing too much of who she really was, from the pictures on her nightstand or the books on her shelf. But this was Auggie, never exposing too much of herself to other around her.

I wondered how she was doing with Stella. Though I knew that this time was nothing like before. Auggie was more acclimated. She would enjoy Stellas company. Though I could not wait to get back to her. This time bringing Blue with me. Sylvie and I both packed some stuff. We decided that it would be fine if we both stayed tonight. This room had a couch and a chair in it. I would sleep in one and Sylvie the other.

Suddenly my phone began to rang. It was Natalie, I was afraid something had happened while I was away.

"Hello?" I answered with fear. "We have a match for Auggie. But the problem is, it's Aurora. She tried to kill herself, Sarah."
