Natalie's POVI got to the hospital right on time. My first stop was to Auggies room. I giggled as I saw Sarah passed out on the couch and Auggie staring at the ceiling. "She was sleeping and I didn't want to wake her up but I am incredibly bored." she said still looking at the ceiling. I think that was the most I had heard her talk. "We'll aren't you a sweet sister." I said walking toward her bed. I sat down on the edge of it. "How did you sleep?" I asked. She was no longer looking at the ceiling but now me instead. "I had a nightmare." she seemed more open to talking about her problems now. "We went on a walk. If that's bad don't get mad at Sarah. Get mad at me and Connor. I was the one who asked and he was the one who approved." I smiled. "I'm not mad. I'm glad you worked up the strength for that." she nodded her head. "How does breakfast sound?" I asked as I got up and then began to examine her. "Alright. Not really hungry but could go for some food." I looked at her with worried eyes.
"I'm never really hungry. The doctors don't really worry about it. I eat when I want too. I'm not too terribly skinny." enjoying food has been taken away from her. "Well I'll have someone bring some food up for you. I would like if you ate some of it." she gave me a thumbs up at that comment. "What about school Auggie?" I asked. I had never heard her talk about friends or school. "Homeschooled. Online actually. Too many doctors appointments to go to actual school. And germs." school has been taking away from her too. "I made a friend the other day." she said somewhat eagerly. "Her name was Marie." she informed me. "Do you think she could come see me?" she asked. "As long as she isn't sick and Sarah gives the okay." she nodded her head. "Is Erin coming back today?" she asked adjusting the way she sat in the bed. "Probably."
"Doctors can be our friends too." she said randomly. "My mom said that to me once." she continued. "We'll I am glad to be your friend then." I smiled at her. "And I guess the firefighters and police are now too." she added thinking out loud. "I think you're right." I confirmed her thought. "Can you hand me that book?" she asked pointing to a leather book sitting next to Sarah. I grabbed the book and handed it to her. "Pen?" she asked. I handed her a pen from my pocket. "What is this for?" I asked. "For Doctor Charles. He is going to meet with me. I'm supposed to write down how I feel. I feel good now. Talking to you. So I need to write that down" I smiled at her. "Speaking of feeling good how is your head doing?" she still had gauze wrapped around her and a large bruise on her face. "Better. My tummy is still sore." she said placing a hand on her abdomen. "I think it might be sore for awhile." she nodded. Then Sylvie walked in. Auggie hadn't spent much time with her. But they would be spending more because Sylvie was Sarah's roommate. "EMT," she whispered and then looked at me "they can be friends too."
"She can sleep through anything" Sylvie laughed looking at Sarah. "I hope I'm not intruding. I just wanted to come say hi. I brought Sarah some stuff." Sylvie said. "Why do you have Sarah's stuff?" Auggie asked. "Oh, I'm her roommate." Sylvie said holding up a bag of stuff. "Can you ask Dr. Charles when he is coming?" Auggie asked me. "Sure." I grabbed my phone from my pocket and texted him. "Maybe Sylvie make sure you eat for me." I said winking at Sylvie. She nodded looking like she was ready to take on the world. And Auggie. "Can I go on another walk today." She asked wide eyed. "I think you just need to rest for now."
"I think I'm just going to leave this for Sarah and maybe I'll come back later." Sylvie placed the bag down and left. "Thats why I don't have real friends. I scare them off." she said staring at her lap. "That's not true Auggie. I think Sylvie is just anxious." I frowned at her. "Why?" she asked curiously. "Well she found you," I began. "So did Gabby" she corrected. "so did Gabby. But her and Sarah are very good friends so I think it just made her sad to see you like that and to see Sarah so sad." I finished. "Is she a good friend to Sarah?" she asked. "She is." I confirmed. She nodded her head in approval.
