Sarah POV

I rushed to the hospital. It was bitter sweet moment for me. Of course I was upset about my patient. But Auggie can have a second chance.

I ran into the ED. Natalie greeted me. "You need to talk to her parents about getting her off the vent." Natalie told me.

I slowly walked toward the room. When I reached the door it was almost as if my body was frozen. I took a deep breath. I saw Auroras body laying almost lifeless on the bed. Her parents looked at me with hopeless eyes. "Reese," her mother read the name on the jacket I had thrown on,"she admired you." She finished. "I'm so sorry." I said staying in my place at the door.

Her mother held her hand like I know mine would've done for Auggie. I didn't know how to go about bringing up the real issue at hand.

"Have you.. have you considered organ donation?" I asked giving into my agenda. "We're both donors." Her father answered.I gulped. "My sister... she needs a kidney. Aurora is a match."

Her mother and father locked eyes. "Give is a minute to say goodbye." Her father asked.

With tears I thanked them and then walked out of the room. Natalie and I locked eyes and I shuck my head at her and headed upstairs.

Auggie POV

Stella and I were playing a mean game of cards when Sylvie arrived back with Blue and her belongings. Blue jumped on my bed and cuddled next to me. "Where's Sarah?" I asked Sylvie still paying attention the game. "Downstairs." Sylvie slumped on the couch.

Stella and I exchanged a look. "Everything okay , Syl?" Stella asked for he both of us. "Just tired. A little nauseous." She closes her eyes. Stella and exchanged another look. "You aren't late are you, Sylvie?" Stella asked. "No no of course not.." Sylvie trailed off in realization. "Oh boy." I muttered. "Shit." Sylvie ran off. Stella look at me with questioning eyes to see if she should stay or go after Sylvie. "Go." I pointed.

She bolted right past Natalie who was walking into the room. "What was that about?" Natalie chuckled. "You don't wanna know." I smiled at her not giving away too much of Slyvie's secret.

Natalie sat down on the couch next to my text books with school work I needed to do. "Sarah told me about the ADD." She said flipping through the books. "It's a theory." I reached my hand out for the human anatomy one she was holding in her hand. "It's my favorite." I said holding up the book after she handed it to me. "It was mine too." She smiled at what we shared in common.

"I tried to work so hard and they still said something was wrong" I sighed as I closed the book. "Auggie You has it harder than the other kids. It's okay to struggle." She encouraged me.

"It distracts Sarah." I told her. "You aren't a distraction." Her pager began to go off. "I gotta go Auggie. I'll be back later."

I sat staring at the book. "Looks like it's just you and be buddy." I said petting blues head. My phone buzzed as it said next to me. It was the group chat Bria and Marie had made. "August you gave you a heart attack, you brat!" Marie wrote. That was very Marie like. Telling jokes instead of showing concern. "That was the goal." I wrote back.

Then Sarah walked in the room with Natalie. Both of them had grins painted across their faces. "You have a kidney Auggie." Sarah smiled. "I don't know how to feel." I blurted out. My feelings were split. Excited, relived but nervous. What if I didn't deserve it. Sarah furrowed her brow. "I rejected this one I don't Deserve a new one. Someone else probably needs it more than me."I shook my head.

"You wouldn't be getting it if you didn't need it." Natalie said sternly crossing her arms. "I'll do better this time." I promised Sarah. "It wasn't you that rejected it. It was your body." Natalie shuck her head. "Can I call Sylvie l want her to be here too."

As if almost like clockwork I could see Sylvie and Stella out of the corner of my eyes. They both looked relived I couldn't wait to hear this story.

"Auggie," Natalie smiled softly at me, "we need to start prepping you for surgery now." I nodded my head as she motioned for nurses to come in. "Is Connor gonna do it again?" I asked to be sure someone I trusted would be taking care of me. She nodded. I noticed that Sarah had remained oddly quiet through all of this. "Are you scared?" I asked her. "Just want you to feel better so you can go back to the sassy little diva you are" she winked. She was scared.

"We're going to take you back now Auggie." Natalie said. "Love you Aug." Sylvie said before covering her mouth with her hand. Before I knew it I was being rolled back into surgery. As was calm and still.
