All four of us were sitting there, staring at each other's faces. It's been almost seven years since we were all together. Nobody knew what to say.
“So, how have you guys been?” I said, trying my best to break the silence.
“Good, I guess,” replied Dave.
“Same as Dave,” Kate added.
“I'm also good,” echoed Max.
The next three hours were silent.
When I left them behind I shouted over my shoulder, “bye, guys. Let's do this again sometime."

This piece, in my opinion, is serious and profound. It showed us, in a simple scene, how time could alienate people who used to be friends. Sometimes, as we grow older and life happens, we simply forget how we used to be with those who were close to us. Very well penned.
