I let out a huge sigh as I arrived home. Quietly, I opened the door and sneaked inside. All of a sudden, I was looking at my wife's angry face.
“You're late!” She grumbled.
“I'm- I'm sorry, I had a lot of work today.”
“Humph!” She uttered rudely. “You hungry?”
‘No no no, please, not again!’ I thought
“No, I already ate.” My stomach growled, giving me away.
She shot me a piercing look and walked out.
I had survived her cooking for a year, but I'd rather starve than get a stomach ulcer.
