This is it, I realise.
I push the door open, knuckles white against the handle, the worn edges of an ultrasound brushing against my fingers.
Green.
The first thing I see.
Time has been kind to her.
If anything, she has become more beautiful, the years stealing away her once round face to make way for high arching cheekbones and a sloping forehead.Beautiful.
And then, I look behind her.
My breath catches.Blue.
I glance back at her.
“Is that – “She nods.
I turn back towards the boy, towards my son, my own blue eyes welling with tears.
