TRIGGER WARNING: this chapter contains domestic violence, alcohol and drug abuse. Please don't continue reading if you don't feel comfortable with these themes.

Like I said before, this chapter will be a flashback about the brothers' past with their abusive father. You can imagine Baekhyeon telling the story like this, because I will be writing it in past tense and author pov.

AUTHOR POV

"No! Please don't! Don't, honey, I l-" "Don't you dare fucking 'honey' me, you slut!" A loud slap was heard throughout the house as their father slapped their mother for what seemed like the millionth time. Her whimpers barely overlapping the violent sounds, created by none other than their father, the house was filled with nothing but despair. The oldest brother, Baekhyeon, was sitting at the edge of his bed, his knee shaking as he rapidly tapped his foot on the floor. He was frowning, concentrating on the sounds of the rooms beside his. He was only 10 years old, but already acting like a grown-up sometimes. He learned to take care of his brothers, since every night was the same. Their father would come home, drunk, rummaging the drawers in the kitchen for pills. When he couldn't find them, because their mother refused to have them in their house, he would come upstairs and beat her up, blaming her for everything that went wrong in his life. Baekhyeon had no choice but to take care of his younger siblings, being a good older brother.

However, this night was bad. Really bad. This night was the one that made Baekhyeon the person he is now. This night was the one that made him overprotective, always worrying about his siblings' well-being.

Their father came home, drunk as usual, but this night he didn't only smell like alcohol and puke, but he also smelled like perfume and... sex. Their mother, who was normally submissive to everything their father threw at her, whether it were words or slaps and objects, now got angry. She took one sniff at his big denim jacket and she already knew why he had been so late for the past few weeks. "What the hell?!" She screamed at the top of her lungs. "How dare you! You fucking bastard! You cheated on me?! With some stupid slut?! I have been faithful to you for 12 fucking years, always staying by your side, always taking care of the kids and you and your miserable ass, and you dare cheat on me?!" She grabbed his collar and started pushing and punching him, shaking him back and forth until he put his hand around her neck. Her eyes widened as his grip tightened, whimpering, trying to beg for mercy. She got scared at how he could change into a beast in mere seconds, always scaring her. What if the kids heard? She was grateful Baekhyeon always took care of his brothers, like she asked him to. But now, she wasn't so sure if the curiosity of the boys wouldn't get the best of them, resulting in them seeing the scene that was unfolding, because her husband threw her against the kitchen cupboard, breaking its glass window in the process. "I dare you to say that one more time..." The man growled, not caring about the glass shards that had scraped his wife's head. "You are the slut! I saw you looking at him, you fucking whore!" She shook her head, if that was even possible with his tight grip still around her neck. He let her go for a second, making her drop to her knees, gasping for air as she tried to answer him. "No, I didn't, he is just the mailman, I didn't-" "Are you saying I'm wrong, are you contradicting me? Huh?! Answer me!" He kicked her. Crying out for pain didn't help, because of the lack of air it sounded more like a mouse's squeak. After a few more moments, the man had enough. He yanked his wife by her arm, stumping up the stairs. He turned around the corner, to the end of the hall, where at his left side was the door to their bedroom. He first threw her against the wall, spinning her with so much force she banged her head against it, leaving a hole in the wall and a bigger wound on her head. He then lifted her up by her waist, throwing her over his shoulder. He barged in the room and threw her on the bed bench, that broke in two because of the violence. She groaned, but layed still. Her body was tired, her mind was tired. She felt hopeless, powerless. Her boys were the only thing that kept her will to live in her. So she kept as quiet as possible while her husband beat her, saying all these awful things to her, unfortunately as usual.
