AUTHOR POV
It is roughly three months later. Monsta X has started practice again, preparing for performances and not wasting any time in trying to make it up to the fans who haven't heard from them the whole summer.
You moved to Seoul, into an apartment of your own. Now you're entirely independent, living on your own and continuing your psychology study. The second year is pretty amazing, you're quite good and so far you have been perfect at keeping up your homework while also having enough time for yourself and your brothers, who come visit at times.
Today, you have a shift at the café you work at, and since Chang-Min didn't want to be alone, he decided to come along. So he basically sat down in a corner with his laptop and he has been asking for coffee every hour, since he is an addict. The café is almost empty, except for the occupied seat by your brother the costumers have all left to go back to work or whatever it is they do on a day like this. It's sunny, so they're probably all doing something cooling, while you have to deal with the heat coming off of the coffee machines.
Chang-Min's phones is on the table, turned on every now and then as he impatiently waits for a text from his boyfriend. Hyungwon, on the other hand, hasn't talked to you ever since he left. In contrast with what you think, he didn't forget or decided to just stop whatever it was you had, he wants to text you every minute of the day, but it's either his busy schedule or himself that keeps getting in the way of sending you a simple 'hey'.
You are unsure of what to think, as he promised to call you as soon as he got back to work, but you haven't heard a thing from him. It makes you insecure, as he seemed so sure of his love for you just a few weeks ago.
He is afraid of letting you down, but at the same time he knows you are understanding and won't hate him for not being able to be the best boyfriend ever to you. The members got tired of his eternal dilemma and constant sulking, so they decided to let him use his day off effectively...
Wonho was a completely different story. He has been texting Chang-Min whenever he had the time, and today he decided to surprise his boyfriend by meeting up. As soon as the doors of the café open and the bell rings, you look up to greet the new costumer with a smile. You smile even brighter when you see who it is. "OMG ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME OMG OMG OMG!!" Chang-Min almost trips over his own feet as he runs to his boyfriend, tightly hugging him as if he will die if he lets go. "I missed you too, babe." Wonho chuckles and his warm breath creates goosebumps in Chang-Min's neck.
You smile faintly at the sight of your brother and his boyfriend, who now walk to the counter so he can order something. "Hello there, person who keeps my brother from sleeping at night." He chuckles at your remark. "Hello there, person who keeps Hyungwon from sleeping at night, may I have an iced Americano?" Your brother quickly puts down money on the counter, and you give him the change before starting to get Wonho's order ready. You sneakily get some ramen as well, which you bring to the blushing boy. He turns to look at you, his eyes widening at the sight of his favorite food in a bowl. "It's on him, don't worry." Chang-Min frowns at you, but when he gets it he quickly pulls out some money. You take it and give Wonho a quick hug, then returning to your spot behind the counter.
The café is only filled by the faint music from the radio, switching between songs that in no way drown down the laughter from the corner of the café. A few more people come in, but as the amount of incoming customers lowers itself to zero, you decide to take a quick break by walking into kitchen, getting out an ice pack so you can cool yourself. You put it in a towel, then placing it on your neck, that seems like it's on fire. A long sigh is released from your mouth. "It is really hot, huh?" says Chung-Hee, your colleague and gay best friend (I mentioned him in chapter 1, lol). You smile at him, then closing your eyes again.
The noise of the bell is heard, even in the kitchen, and Chung-Hee looks up at you. "Duty calls again, y/n!" You chuckle softly, placing the ice in the fridge again and then quickly rushing out of the kitchen.
Looking down, while fixing your apron, you speedily walk to the counter. A quick fix of your hair by stroking a piece behind your ear, you look nice again after your cool break.
You arrive at your destination and look up to meet a tall guy with plump lips and beautiful dark eyes. He is blushing madly, and if you weren't so mesmerized by the sight of him you would for sure have heard your brother talking to Wonho about the handsome boy standing in front of you.
Hyungwon's lips curve into a smile, and so do yours.
Little drops of sweat roll down his neck, not from the hot air but from the nerves of finally seeing you again. And here he is. Right in front of you.
"Hi." You release the words with a breath of air that you were choking on at seeing your soon-to-be-boyfriend again. He blinks and his lips part, revealing a smile that has been reserved just for you.
"Hi."
