this is part 2 to country girl, but you don't have to read it to understand this one.

"you idiot, they're gonna make out"

"el," mike said, "wake up"

mike gently shook the girl awake. she had her hair in a messy bun. she was wearing a clean white t-shirt and jeans. it was a refreshing change from the usual overalls covered in crap. well, whatever she wore, she always shined in. she was leaning her head against the window of the car, asleep. she was still beautiful nonetheless.

"el. we're here," mike whispered.

el's droopy eyes slowly opened and met mike'a, as she groaned.

"we're here," mike repeated.

suddenly, a smile found its way to el's face. she looked out the window eagerly.

el's grandparents had agreed to send el with mike to the city simply because she needed new experiences. living in an isolated countryside motel wasn't really doing her much good, socially.

"woah. where are we?" el asked. she looked out the window and saw that grey walls surrounded the car. it was dark except for the few lights that were sprinkled on the walls.

nancy spoke up from behind the wheel, setting the car into park, "we're in our garage. our room is on the top floor, so we gotta take the elevator,"

nancy got out of the car, as el gaped, "you have an elevator in your house?"

"well. we live in a twenty-story apartment building," mike said.

"cool," el said, excited, "will i get to see it?"

"later. i was thinking you'd wanna explore l.a. for a bit,"

el bit her lip, "what time is it?"

"about six-thirty,"

"won't it get dark soon? won't we need to sleep?" el asked.

"el, my dear, this city never sleeps,"

"so this is a what?" el asked, chewing through her food, holding the strange food by the stick.

"it's a corndog el," mike said, chuckling, "i've told you a million times. it's a hot dog coated in bread,"

the two were seated on a bench near where the corndog cart was settled, watching the noisy and busy l.a. traffic at night. mike finished his corndog and threw it into the trashcan next to the bench.

"how the fuck do you eat that fast?" el asked, barely halfway through her corndog.

"it's a gift," mike said.

el rolled her eyes and finished off her corndog.

"where to next, cheif?"

"my studio,"

"your what?"

"recording studio,"

"holy shit; a girl!" yelled a boy with curly hair and a red, white, and blue hat placed on his head. he was staring directly at el, who walked through the wooden door painted white.

"hey, i'm a girl," said the red-headed ginger, smacking the curly-haired boy on the shoulder.

"yeah yeah," the curly-haired boy said, "hey mike, is this the girl you've been texting me non-stop about? 'oh dustin, she's the most beautiful girl i've ever-'"
