modern country au- mike is 16, el is 15.

"you'd actually be a pretty cute cowboy,"

"god, this place is such a shithole," mike said, plugging his nose. leaning against the small green car, he stared out at the open country, trying to find a hint of civilization in the land that stretched for miles. but all he saw was cows and pastures. and the seemingly barren hotel that looked like it had been abandoned for years.

"the shittiest hole," nancy agreed, getting out of the driver's seat, staring at what was supposed to be their hotel, "i could smell it through the car windows,"

"why'd they have to pick this shithole place to film? why couldn't it be in a studio?" mike whined.

"because your shit director wants to be 'authentic'" nancy said, opening the trunk and grabbing the luggage.

"don't call my director shit," mike said, picking up his suitcase, starting towards what seemed to be the entrance of a hotel, "it was a rhetorical question,"

the green mini cooper seemed alien compared to the dusty pick-up truck parked alongside it, which seemed to have been collecting dust for years. not only was the green car foreign, the passengers were foreign. they were wearing exotic jackets and upscale clothing. though there was no one in sight, mike and nancy were sure they'd stick out like a sore thumb.

the entrance to their so-called hotel looked like a haunted mansion that had been abandoned for years. mike and nancy wouldn't have opened it if a man hadn't come through the door, with keys jangling in his hand.

mike and nancy handheld their suitcases above the dirt floor so that they wouldn't get grimy and entered the facility. inside, the hotel was actually pretty nice. it had aged wooden floors, a check-in counter with an old lady sitting behind it, and a tiny cafe with an old man working behind it.

the old lady looked up at the sound of the door opening, and smiled excitedly, "you must be the hollywood stars,"

mike shot her a nervous smile, "ha ha, yup. how'd you know?"

she smiled, "barely anyone comes to this town. only for unexpected overnight stays on road trips. so when we get reservations, we know it's for movie sets,"

"do you film a lot of movies here?" mike asked.

"not a whole lot. a handful. i can't remember them all anymore, but some scenes from fiddler on the roof and the martian were filmed here," she said.

"okay cool," nancy said, "we're the wheelers. where's our room?"

the old lady looked through her stack of papers and went to grab a key that was hanging alongside other similar keys. she handed it to nancy, and said, "room 204. we only have stairs, so i hope that's ok,"

mike smiled nervously again.

suddenly, a young girl came through the door; not the one that the wheelers came through, but the door opposite to that, she had an empty bucket in her hands, and she was wearing overalls, sneakers, and a cowboy hat. she was covered in dirt and paint stains. she had relatively curly hair, and she had the most radiant smile. she went over to the counter.

"hey grandma, do you know where.......," she trailed off upon laying her eyes on the two siblings, "hey. you must be the hollywood stars,"

mike smiled nervously at the beautiful girl, "yeah,"

the girl nodded, "cool," then she turned back to the counter, "grandma, do you know where Matthew went? I need his help with Rosy's food"

"oh! he just went out, sweetie,"
