"Good morning, Class. As you can see, we have new transfering students. Boys? Can you introduce yourselves to the class?" Our teacher said.
The first boy bowed and flashed the cutest and flashiest smile i have ever seen.
Familiar, was the thought that flashed right through my mind.
"Hi everyone! You can call me V, and i hope we can be great friends! Im new here so i hope you can introduce me to the school"
The first boy said
Then the second boy came in, and as i just glimpsed at his face for a second, I stood up immediately, gathering the attention of the entire class.
I-Its him. J-Jimin. My Jimin! How is he here?
Why is he here? He's back!
He bowed and smiled.
Its him. Its really him. I know that smile, the same smile that promised to come back for me. My sunshine. That ray of sunshine.
The teacher noticed me standing and told me to sit back down. I did, but my eyes were teary.
"Good morning everyone! You can call me Chim. I actually came from abroad and returned back here. I hope we all get along well!" Jimin says, his eyes scanned through the class until he found me.
He smiled ever so brightly, and my heart started to flutter. He-He looks awesome now that he has matured.
"Chim and V go sit at the back. Well! Lets have our new lesson for today!" The teacher beamed.
I couldnt stop looking at Jimin, and a bazzilion questions were in my mind.
Does he still remember me? How come he didn't tell me he came back and transfer here? How is he? Is he still the same? Where was he? AND WHY IS HE USING CHIM AS HIS NAME?
I looked at him, and he looked at me.
He looked at me at the same expression as i did when i first saw him. That longing feeling that you have found something special and someone you can't let go of and something that urged you to go and comfort a person.
Although the Kim V guy noticed and nudges his arm, alarming Jimin to his senses.
Jimin took one last glimpse of me then looked down.
Like he wasn't allowed to look or talk to me.
Its like he is oppressed to do what he wanted.
That completely shattered me.
As they sat on their seats, they both greeted their new classmates. Jimin, he acted as if I'm just an object in the distance, out of reach, and useless.
* * *
When break time came, i immediately confronted Jimin. Standing like a statue infront of him
"Jimin-" I pointed at myself "-you can't remember me?" I stated. And I'm at the point of crying.
He looked as if he'd seen a ghost i front of him. He reached out his hand, but a couple of seconds later, he retreated it back.
"No, i dont think so. Have I seen you anywhere before? And again, my name is Chim." His voice is hoarse, like he just woke up. Like he hates the words he's saying.
My ears are ringing, hating the words that are going out of his mouth.
"Why cant you remember me? Its me!
Jae Eun! Don't you remember we were bestfriends?" I croaked.
Jimin tilted and said "Im sorry. I dont remember, maybe that was a long time ago. The memory is gone already"
I stepped back. Traumatized at what just happened.
I've been waiting for this moment for how many years, and yet this is what I get? Of all the times I've repeated the promise Jimin once said to me whenever i get bullied and remember what Jimin would say when I was in trouble.
"Excuse me? Are you ok?" Jimin says.
Im shaking, trembling actually.
How could you do this to me?
I clench my fists.
Everyone is just exactly the same. They forget me. They sabotage me. Like they want to see me.....broken.
I look at Jimin in the eye, glaring at him, then sighed.
"Nothing. Nothing is wrong. Goodbye, Chim. And sorry, I may have mistook you for another friend of mine." I finally say, turning around and walked away.
How unpleasant.....
* * *
During lunch, i picked up my lunch then headed to a place where there are no people around.
An unfamiliar voice said,
"You dont remember me at all, dont you?"
