I was at home sitting on the couch when there was a knock at the door. I opened the door to find a Casey standing there looking like a dog that doesn't know what to do next. "Hey Casey what's up" I asked not knowing why he would come here of all places. I mean it was a dump a literal dump. "I thought I would invite you to the company picnic in two hours" "what should I wear" "normal cloths" "Okay see you then" "want me to give you a ride" "sure". I sat on the couch, and watched TV Casey in the arm chair. Once it was time to go they left and went to the park. They quickly found their crew. They sat down and started chatting with everyone. "So Dawson why you not show up to these things before" "how do you know I haven't" "I see your old crew over there" "I didn't want to spend anymore time with them than I had to be honest I don't really like them" "she is one of us" said Herman all happy. "What do you mean?" "Lieutenant over there doesn't like Jacobs either, so we don't and now we know for sure you are one of us". Why didn't Casey like Jacobs everyone else seems to? "Why don't you like Jacobs" I asked looking at Casey. "Once when we were both on the same truck during our first year I got trapped under a piece of metal and couldn't get out. He left me for dead. Herman saved me" he said smiling towards Herman. Herman returned the smile. I checked my phone it was 2:30 in the afternoon I knew I had to lie, because I had to go. The reason I was doing nothing today is because it is the day my whole family died not my firehouse my birth family. I had to be at there graves in 30 minutes. It would take ten to get home 5 to get flowers, and 15 most likely of crying. "I have to go it was good to see you all see you tomorrow" "where you going Dawson" "I have an appointment to get to" I of course lied. "Let me give you a ride home" Casey said "It's okay I can walk" "I brought you I will give you a ride". I stopped arguing. I got in his truck ,and as we were driving he pulled over, and said "what's the real reason you had to go?" "what do you mean I have an appointment" I sort of do have an appointment just not the one they are thinking of. "You said you have an appointment what kind of appointment" he sounded like he didn't know how to act or feel towards this. "it is very important and I can't miss it" "Dawson you hiding something from us what is it" "my apartment is not to far I am going to walk" I said while getting out of the truck. I didn't bother listening to what he was going to say to me, he should know not to push me on somethings especially if I am being secretive doesn't he remember the first day when he made me break down in tears.

I got home grabbed my keys off the table near the door, and instead of bringing my phone like normal I left it not wanting to talk to anyone for a while. I drove and bought twenty white roses for the amount of years the three have been dead. I got tot he graveyard, and found their graves. I set the roses down one by one. Stood up and looked at the graves. This brought back so  many emotions and flash backs of that day.

Flash back

"Mom I don't want to go back to school shopping" I complained "well you need to" said my father who was yet again drunk out of his mind. "Come on sis I will show you all the cool cloths to wear" "okay Antonio" I said. My mother hated the way I dressed myself, because I wore the kind of cloths my brother would wear, and she always said 'a lady must not wear boys cloths' me being me I always responed with 'well I am not lady like so I am not a lady'. She hated when I was sarcastic to her. Even at age six I was really sassy. We got in the car, and mom drove because dad was drunk, and we can't afford another D.U.I. so mom drove to the store. We were about to get on the high way when the car came suddenly to a stop. Mom hit the breaks to avoid hitting a dog. This made my dad really angry so when we got on the highway they started arguing. Then dad hit mom,  we lost control of the car. We swerved on to he opposite side of the highway. And my brothers side of the car was hit by a semi. "ANTONIO" I shouted as we were rolling, glass breaking, mom screaming. "ANTONIO" I yelled again he had his arm pinned in and a long deep cut on his throat. Dad's head was bleeding all over the place, mom wasn't breathing. I had my arm pinned in between the seat and the door, and a long cut on my forehead.  I am sitting i the car crying because my entire family is dead right in front of me. That's when someone comes up to the window, and says "don't worry kiddo I called 911 the fire fighters will be here soon stay calm. What's your name?" "Gabby" "Hi Gabby I am Jordan" the man said "How old are you" he asked me "I am six" "So is my son Jake I will have to introduce you to him sometime" that's when they pulled up Jordan left and a man came over to the car, and climbed in from the trunk. "Hey sweetheart my name is Chief Sam Connors, and I hear you are Gabby" "yes" I said still crying "hey hey don't worry we will get you out i'ts okay I will be with you the whole time". "My big brother is dead" I say crying. By this time they got me out of the seatbelt and the Chief just pulled me into a hug. He brought me out and took me to the ambulance and asked "do you have any other family?" "no" that's when this lady came over. And started talking to the chief I could still hear them. "We are taking the girl she has no family she will go in the system and to a foster family" "you know as well as I do that the system doesn't work she will be forgotten about I won't let that happen" "there is nothing else we can do" "I will take her" "what?" "I will take her, she needs a family, an dI can give that o her." "let me talk to my boss". After about ten minutes she said "Okay. The Chief took me home with him, and to work with him everyday. A month later he adopted me. Over the summer I would go to work with him everyday. I loved his job, and he was my dad.

I remember that day so clearly what it looked like. And what happened. That day I lost my entire family, but I also gained a family. I was now crying knowing that day I lost my parents, and my best friend, but I gained a true parent who honestly loved, and cared about me.
