Chapter 18

We had to fill up the rig after our last call. As we just started filling the tank with gas truck 131 pulled up I knew this wouldn't be good if Jacobs was in the mood for confrontation. They all jumped out with smug looks on their faces, but what they didn't know is I wasn't going to take any of what Jacobs has to say about me. No one from squad dared to look at 131. But Jacobs decided to start running his mouth. "See your still alive Dawson that's a shame." "yeah well I survived oops I will be around to irritate you for a long time get use to it" "how dare you talk to me like that" "like what I am talking to you like your not in charge of me and I am not afraid of you" I said in my snarky tone. "I am higher up on the fire department food chain than you will do as I say" "no I wont" "excuse me" he said angrily. I wasn't taking anything he had to say today.  From now on it was either he played by my rules or I would make him so mad he would make a fool of himself. He was one moment standing in front of me the next he punched me right above the eye. I didn't even see it coming no one did. I was about to do something when Severide stepped in "Jacobs get to your truck and leave her alone or I will knock your lights out" that's when Tony shouted "Rigs all filled Lieutenant. "Squad 3 lets go" said Severide using a deadly calm voice I knew to listen to. We all got in the rig, but before Severide closed his doors he said to Jacobs "Just be glad Casey wasn't here or he wouldn't gave warned you before he beat you for hitting his wife". On the way back Severide smiled and said "Good girl Gabby that guy has been a horrible person for too long. Good job at putting him in his place". I knew he was proud I knew everyone was proud. After the kids were born and Matt still was in Florida we had run ins with him, and I took his words, and now I struck back harder than he ever did to me. Now even though he has a whole truck at his command I knew he wouldn't try anything because I had a whole firehouse at my command. 

We got back to the firehouse, and I went right to my hiding place that now no one knew where it was. Everyone thought they knew me so well, but they didn't I went from hiding in the bathrooms to think, then it was the area by the trash but they found me their now I hid on the roof of 81 laying on the latter. I think Severide knows where I hide, but doesn't want anyone else to know. So if I am up there and chow is up he will text me. Once we got back to the station everyone went inside I went to the latter of 81 laying their looking up at the ceiling made me happy, calm, it allowed me to think. As I lay there a bag of chips was passed up to me by Severide I just gave him a warm smile. He knew I was hungry but didn't want to face Casey or tell him I got punched in the face. I knew Severide would tell him for me. 

SEVERIDE POV

We just got back, and everyone but Gabby came in the common room I grabbed a bag of chips, and went out and handed them to her. I knew she didn't want to be the one to tell Casey, Jacobs socked her right above her eye. I would have to, and I knew he wouldn't be happy. I walked into the house and found a confused Casey wondering around. "Have you seen Gabby?" he asked me. "Nope" I lied I knew where she was she was laying on the latter of 81. Gabby only went up there when she needed to think, so I knew to leave her alone while she was up there only bringing her food and drinks. He was about to walk away when I said "hey Casey can I talk to you in my office" he heard the seriousness in my voice, and followed me. I had to tell him, but I needed to give Gabby time to run Casey would be mad and he had a bad temper, and would be mad she didn't tell him. She would, but it's better he hears before he sees her face and the bruise above her eye. I texted her 'watch out I am telling Casey about Jacobs hide in squad for the next few hours he won't look there'. I made sure Casey was ahead of me when I texted her she replied with a 'k'. I closed my door and stood in front of it. Casey had a confused look on his face he didn't know why he was asked to be spoken to in here, but I could tell it wouldn't be a good talk. "Something happened with Dawson while we were filling up" "what happened" he was sounding angry not knowing what was going on or what I meant by that. "Truck 131 showed up, and Jacobs was being a jerk to her, she stood up for herself, and he punched her, I defended her, then we left she is okay....she just has a bruise over her eye". He was a whole new shade of red no one had discovered. "He hurt my girl, and she didn't tell me" "I know she would sometime, but it is best you hear it before you see her face" "where is she Kelly" he said angrily. I knew this wouldn't be good, and I had to lie to him to give him time to cool down before he did something he would regret. "I don't know man" "I am going to find her" he said walking out the door she was hiding in squad and he wouldn't find her for a while. 

GABBY POV

I was hiding in squad knowing Casey would be mad that I didn't tell him. But the thing is I needed to think if I should have handled it differently, and if I would have Jacobs would have been treating me like trash forever. I stood up for myself, and getting punch was one part of the battle he doesn't know he has lost. I hear the doors open and see Casey looking around, he was about to turn around to look at the squad, so I quickly ducked down knowing he didn't see me. He walked outside, but I knew he would be back sooner or later. That's when we go the call.
