Chapter 25

TWO MONTHS LATER

For the past few months, Kelly and Matt have been acting really weird around each other. I have asked Matt but he won't tell me what is going on. As I walk in I see Kelly standing by his locker. I went over to him. "Okay, Kelly what is going on with you and Matt" I could tell he was debating on telling me what is going on. "Ask your husband" "I have he won't tell me" "wait he never told you" what is Matt hiding from me? "No, he hasn't what is going on" "Matt is cheating". Cheating? "what do you mean" "the night you were in the hospital I went to find him I saw the texts on his phone confronted him when he came to pick up the kids and he said it was true that he cheated Gabby I am so sorry I was told he would tell you" "it's okay Kelly. Thank you for telling me". I walked away to get changed. I can't believe my husband the man I love is cheating on me. But for how long is the question. I would have to talk to him later when we get him. I texted Kelly asking if he can take the kids for a few hours he said yes. I and Matt are going to figure this out. I need to know if what I heard is true. I need to know if the man I love is cheating on me. 

END OF SHIFT

The shift was quiet and went fast. I got in the truck and waited for Matt since we came here together maybe for the last time. I can't think like that maybe me and Matt will work this out who knows. I was just thinking when Matt opened the door and hopped in. He kissed my cheek and put the truck in drive. I sat there looking out the window. Matt didn't even notice. We got home, and I just got out of the car and went inside. Matt came in and said, "I am going to shower". I didn't even bother to reply. He got out and I was sitting at the kitchen table staring out into space. I saw him come in to grab a beer and said to him "Matt we need to talk". Now he noticed something was wrong he sat down and looked at me with confusion in his eyes. "Gabby what's going on," he asked sounding concerned. "Are you cheating on me?" I ask looking daggers into his eyes. "What do you mean?" "Kelly told me about the texts Matt," I say. He had this look it was like a deer caught in headlights thinking of its next move. "Gabby...." he tried to explain, but I wouldn't let him I deserved to know the truth and I was going to get it. "Answer the question Matt" I said in a stern voice. "Yes, but I regretted it at every second, and it was only once after we lost the baby I......" he stopped when he noticed the tears going down my face. He started to speak again but this time he wasn't explaining himself "Gabby I am so so sorry" he said tears streaming down his face. "How could you?" I asked he had this ashamed look on his face. "I don't know" was all he said. He is basically destroying our family, and he doesn't know why. "You are giving up everything we worked on, our family, our relationship and you don't even know why" I said my voice cracking as I started to cry. "Gabby...." "how could you Matt?" I said again this time I am sobbing my eyes out. The man who promised to love me forever really doesn't love me, and I can't change that, but I also can't change the fact that he basically lied to me every time he said 'I love you' to me. He never loved me if he did he wouldn't have cheated. I got up and started walking to the door behind me I hear Matt calling my name, but I don't listen. I grab my keys and get in my car as I pull out of the driveway I see Matt out on the front porch. I just drive. I don't know where I am going, but I can't just stay their and listen to how our family is going to be torn apart. How my kids will probably hate their dad. It is overwhelming. I feel like this isn't my life anymore. I have no idea who I am. I have lost so many in my life, and now I am losing the man who made me believe he loved me, and I loved him. At some point I got out of my car and started walking. I saw the coffee shop me and Shay would stop at every morning before shift started. I was walking across the street when a car ran the red light and slammed into the side of me. I flew back and hit the concrete. 

MATT POV

After Gabby walked out of the house and drove off I got so angry with myself I just hurt the women I love. I know it doesn't seem like it because I cheated but I love Gabby Dawson no doubt about that. I was so angry I punched the wall which was my usual solution to problems. Great another hole in the wall to fix. I sat there on the couch staring at the blank TV waiting for Gabby to come home. Two hours had passed since she left when my phone started ringing. I looked down thinking Gabby's face would pop up, but it was a number I knew all to well. Med. I answered the phone not knowing what to expect. 

Phone Call

Matt: Hello?

Dr. Manning: Is this Matthew Casey

Matt: yes who is this

Dr. Manning: I am doctor Manning. Your wife was brought into the ER after being hit by someone who ran a red light. She is up in surgery as we speak. 

Matt: Okay I will be down as soon as I can

End of Phone Call

Gabby was hurt, and it is all my fault. If I wouldn't have cheated she wouldn't have gone for the drive and gotten hit by that car. It is all my fault.
