Chapter Twelve - Day of fun
When they arrived at Adam's house, Neil was already in the living room couch, munching on chips and watching TV. He beamed when he saw them entering the house.
"Welcome dearie."
"Uh... were you watching Once Upon A Time?"
"Hah come here and gimme a hug."
"Hey where's Tanya?"
"Damn. I was supposed to pick her up. Gotta go."
Neil had rushed out of the house before they could say anything else.
"So, what do we do?"
"Wanna watch some movie?"
"Sure. Which one?"
"Wrong Turn?"
"Ugh spare me the gore. I wanna watch Frozen."
"No way."
"Please..."
"Let's watch Hunger Games."
"Fine." Anne rolled her eyes and gave up. She knew Adam would not watch anything that would ruin his reputation. But it did not hurt to try.
By the time Adam loaded the movie, Anne set up the snacks and popcorn. Just as she was sitting down, Neil's car pulled up and Tanya barged in.
"Remind me never to ride with you.... ANNIE!!!"
"Hey." She gave Tanya a long hug before pulling away.
"What are we watching?" Tanya eyed the setup.
"Hunger Games." Anne pouted.
"Cool." She sat down between Anne and Adam. Adam surely looked like he was sulking.
A movie and some silly games later, they headed out to the club. They all drove in Adam's car singing their hearts out throughout the ride. By the time they reached the club, they had sore throat.
"Man, I could use some drink." Neil said with all the drama.
"Just go easy on the drinks bro. I don't want to handle drunk Neil again." Adam warned him.
"I love drunk Neil. He is so much fun to watch." Tanya sounded delighted.
"Can we get inside already?" Anne literally pushed all of them inside.
Once they got inside, Neil headed straight to the bar followed by Tanya. Adam pulled Anne to the dance floor. Anne loved to dance and she danced without any inhibitions. She could feel Adam's hand on her waist as he pulled her closer as they swayed together to the music.
Before she could realise what was happening, Neil was standing in the middle of the dance floor looking awkwardly at them waving his phone at Adam. Apparently his parents were calling him but he didn't feel his phone ring so they called Neil instead. Adam excused himself and Anne went to sit down at the bar.
"Hi gorgeous." A flirty voice spoke to her.
When she looked at the person speaking to her, she could barely control her laughter. He looked so cheesy.
"Are you talking to me?" She had to make sure as he had used the word "gorgeous".
"Do you see anyone else who is gorgeous around here?"
She was really stifling her laughter now since he was throwing lines as cheesy as his clothes. When she didn't reply, he shifted closer to her, too close to her liking.
"So, what's your name?"
"My name is none of your business."
"I must say that's a cool name, none-of-your-business. My name is Steven."
She gave him a bored expression and looked away. Before she knew it, he had stuffed a tissue in her hand.
"That's my number, in case you change your mind." With that he gave her a clearly bleached grin and a wink and walked away.
Before she could throw the paper, Adam was already by her side pulling her to the dance floor again. She just stuffed it in her pocket and continued to dance with her gang. Neil and Tanya looked like they had been practising the steps. They were so in sync. When she looked back at Adam, she found his hazel eyes staring back at her. She could feel the blush rising in her cheeks and focused on Neil and Tanya's dance routine again.
