Chapter Thirteen - Morning after
They had all crashed at Adam's place since his parents were abroad. When Anne woke up, she found Adam with her in a spooning position. Startled, she looked for Neil and Tanya who were lying in an equally awkward position. She got a hold of her phone and as Adam started to wake up, she hushed him and took a photo of Neil and Tanya. It was too funny to ignore. After she was done, she felt Adam's eye on her. She looked back at him and they were in some kind of staring contest till Anne's stomach growled from hunger.
Anne bit her lip in embarrasment while Adam doubled up in laughter. She hit him on his head out of annoyance.
"Where is that gentleman who was opening doors for me yesterday? Go make some breakfast for the lady."
"I'm not your personal chef, milady."
She rolled her eyes and took out Adam's t-shirt and shorts and changed into them. Since the shirt was too big for her, she tied it up around her waist and pulled her hair into a side bun. When she came out of the bathroom, Adam was still lying on the bed lazily while Neil and Tanya were still asleep.
"Oh come on. Just wake them up at least. I'll make breakfast for all of us."
"Uhh okay. By the way, my clothes look better on you." Adam smirked.
"Ok ok enough flattering. Bring them down soon."
She practically hopped down the stairs. It was not everyday she woke up to sweet compliments. Adam shook both Neil and Tanya violently to wake them up. Neil blurted out some profanities and Tanya whined. As Adam was collecting Anne's clothes that she left on the floor, the tissue paper with the phone number dropped out.
Anne was flipping some pancakes when Adam came to the kitchen.
"I'm so hungry."
"Hey! Wait for Neil and Tanya. Where are they?"
"Hungover. They are coming."
Tanya walked like a zombie as she headed downstairs.
"Ow my head hurts." She complained.
"Wait till you see the video of all the embarrassing things you two did yesterday." Adam teased.
"What? What did we do?" Neil and Tanya blurted in unison and looked at each other.
There was no video, Adam was just messing with them. They looked so scared, it was funny. Both Anne and Adam had a hearty laugh while Neil and Tanya stood there looking miserable.
"Chill guys. He was joking."
"How mean!" Tanya pouted and sat down.
After they finished eating, Adam drove Anne home. On the way, Adam seemed awfully quiet. After futile attempts to have a conversation, Anne gave up and looked out the window. As they reached her house, Anne looked at Adam before getting off the car. Adam sighed and handed her the tissue paper. Anne's eyes opened wide as realization hit her.
"Adam, I was about to throw it."
"No need to explain. Just....." Adam shook his head in frustration. "You're better than this." He went quiet again. Taking the cue, Anne got off and walked towards her house with a heavy heart. Before she could look back, Adam had already driven away.
Anne was lying on her bed feeling angry at how Adam had behaved. It was patronizing. But she could not help but feel good that he had her back. She was playing with her phone, contemplating whether to text him or not when it buzzed.
"Hey Tanya."
"Annie, I'm bored."
"Yeah, me too. So, what do you wanna do?"
"I was thinking maybe we can go shopping......"
"Yeah sure. Give me half an hour and I'll come to your place."
"Yay....."
Anne could not believe how easily Tanya could get excited. She wished her life was that simple.
Tanya answered her door even before Anne could press the doorbell. They took Tanya's car to the mall. "I'm gonna look at the dresses." Tanya ran towards some pretty looking dresses and Anne went to look for some t-shirts with cool one-liners. She found a really cool t-shirt saying "My Ideal Weight is Jensen Ackles On Top Of Me."
As she was taking it to show it to Tanya, she bumped into someone's hard, chiseled body. He was looking at her with a goofy grin, but it was so hot, she had to look down. She then realised what the t-shirt she was holding said. She was looking like a typical fangirl, but who could resist Jensen? She hid the t-shirt behind her and looked up at him. He still was not budging.
"Uhhh excuse me." Anne managed to speak out.
"At least tell me your name."
Anne could not believe this guy, jumping to the point so bluntly.
"Why should I?"
"Well, for starter, you're cute. And I gather from your choice of clothes, interesting as well."
"Damn, you saw the t-shirt."
"Yeah," He chuckled.
"I just thought it was funny." She began to say before he cut her off.
"Hey I'm not judging. So, what's your name?"
"Anne." As soon as she said it, she regretted it. Why didn't she give him a fake name?
"Well, my name is Jensen." He winked. Even he knew better than to give a real name to someone you just met.
She couldn't help laughing out loud and they ended up talking in a cafe. He seemed cool and made her forget about the drama that was her life. They didn't talk about personal stuff. Just random things. They exchanged numbers and as Anne was heading back, she could see Tanya furiously searching for her. This was bad. She prepared herself for a big lecture and patted Tanya on her shoulders.
"OH MY GOD!!!!!! WHERE DID YOU DISAPPEAR? I WAS SO WORRIED. Why are you smiling like that?"
Was she smiling.
"Oh nothing, I just met a guy and we were talking. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you."
"Wait....A guy? Who? Where's he?"
"He is gone. His name is Tyler."
"Ooohhh was he hot?"
"What? Yes but that's not the point. We just talked."
"Well if course you just talked. It's a mall for God's sakes."
"You have a point."
"I always have a point. Anyways, did you get his number?"
"Yeah, in fact I did."
"So, when am I getting to meet him?"
"I don't know. Can we get back to looking at clothes? We are bored, remember?"
"Well, I for one, am not bored anymore. My tutor friend met a hot guy at the mall. Wow..."
Anne pulled her inside and they resumed their shopping spree.
