Chapter Seventeen - Fighting Feelings

After having the conversation, Anne could not focus on anything other than Adam, who was sleeping innocently before her. She was feeling suffocated and had to get out of there. She knew a panic attack was on its way and she didn't want her friends to see her in such a vulnerable state.

"Neil, can you take me home?"

Neil checked his watch and said, "What? You're leaving already?"

"Yeah, I remembered I have to be home early today."

"Okay, just let me drink some lemonade first."

"Uh come on, you've hardly had to drink any shot."

"You have a point." Neil smirked and grabbed his keys.

As Anne was leaving, she looked back at Adam and Tanya, who were sleeping clueless and she had to click a picture.

"Amateur." Neil chuckled and placed both of them in such a way that it looked like they were hugging and Tanya's head was resting on Adam's chest.

"Now, take the picture." Neil smiled at his masterpiece.

Anne clicked their picture and as she left, she gave them a last glance. There was a feeling at the pit of her stomach, and she suddenly didn't want to leave.

She closed the door and walked towards Neil's car. As she was getting in, her phone buzzed. It was a text from Tyler, "Just so u know, I'm not talking to u."

"Y?"

"U haven't called me."

"Neither have u."

"Point. So, when r u free?"

"Will call u 2nite. Then we'll talk."

"Ok"

"So, this Tyler guy....What's he like?" Neil asked as soon as Anne put away her phone.

"Huh?" Anne could not suppress her smile at the sudden interrogation. "Well, he is hot and if you are interested, I would be happy to step down."

"Ugh... Thank you for the visual." Neil shook his head.

"I guess he is okay. He is funny and charming. He calms my nerves and makes me forget the issues in my life. We never talk about serious stuff. Being with him is like going to a spa, you know? I feel relaxed."

"So, he is a masseuse?" Neil chuckled.
