Chapter Eighteen- Eighteen

To say the date was boring was an understatement. Tyler took Anne to his home and they watched a movie while all she could think about was what Adam had said to her on the phone. He had told her to call once she got back. It sounded like he was lonely, waiting for her to call, glancing at his phone every other minute. She couldn't shake off the feeling that he needed her. He needed to talk to her. He had something going on in his mind and she failed to be beside her friend. Instead of being there with him, she was with a total stranger, at his house, getting bored. She did not know what she was doing there, trusting him enough to stay alone with him. How much did she know about him? Except that he was good-looking and made her comfortable. They were in different intellectual levels and they didn't connect. The more she thought about it, the more repealing he felt. She had to get out of there.

She excused herself to go to the restroom and when she returned, she said,

"Tyler, I need to go home. My mother is not feeling so well and she needs me right now."

She hated feigning her mother's health but she could not think of any other excuse.

Tyler looked beyond disappointed. She knew he was expecting 'more' of their 'date' and Anne was not giving him anything.

"Please Tyler." Anne said again.

"Okay, I'll drop you."

"No, no. You finish watching the movie. I'll just go myself."

"No, don't be stupid. It's no big deal. I've watched it already anyways."

"Fine."

The ride was mostly silent except some instances of Tyler trying to start a conversation with her. But Anne's focus was somewhere else.

"See you later." Tyler said as she hopped off his car.

"Yeah..." She knew it was a lie. It started off as Tyler helping her forget the drama in her life but she realized he was just a new chapter which would only complicate her life further.

"I'm not made for casual flings anyways."

She rushed to her room and took a shower. She wanted to scrub off Tyler from her system. She didn't want him in her life anymore. He probably only wanted one thing from her, probably thought she was a lonely girl with weak willpower and low self-esteem who he would just use and throw. If she was right, she knew he won't let her go that easily.

"Hey Adam. I got home and wanted to see if you would wanna meet."

He called back as soon as he got her text.

"Hey, you're home already? What's wrong? Did he hurt you?"

"No. No I just wanted to talk."

"Oh okay. I'll see you tomorrow."
