Jody woke up alone. After lazing an extra five minutes enjoying the smooth softness of the plum colored silk blanket, she dragged out of bed. She was up before her alarm: a rarity. The digital clock was brought over even though Roger hated the thing because when it went, it off was usually around the time that he was just falling back to sleep. Jody had a habit of trying to sleep through it but he would groan and nudge her until she made it stop.

Lately she was staying at his place more than her own. Sleeping over at someone's house always held a certain oddness and required an adjustment period. That wasn't the case in this situation though. Odd it didn't feel but normal, as if she and Roger were meant to coexist together this way. When she told him how natural it felt, he suggested that it was because their souls were reuniting after having known each other in a another time. Jody laughed at first thinking it was a joke only to look in his eyes and see that he wasn't aiming to be funny.

Later that night when they laid in bed, he explained to her the story that he liked to believe in his mind.

In it they were star crossed lovers that would meet every night in a grand candlelit room to dance but they could never touch. He on the left of the room, she on the right. Each night they would come a few steps closer. Finally on the last night, as they were about to meet, a gust of wind blew out the fires and drowned them in darkness. Frantically they searched for each other but the further they ran, the farther from one another they became. And so they were cursed until the day that they would reunite.

"We're together now, does that mean the curse is broken?" She'd asked.

"I don't know. Sometimes it feels like mine still lingers." He'd answered.

When she went to sleep that night she dreamt of the tale. In it, the candles were rekindled. The alarm clock went off before it could end.

The dynamic between the two changed after that. They became emotionally closer. Spending more of their time in bed talking as opposed to just having sex. Jody appreciated the connecting sessions, she was now equally enamored with his mind as she was with his body.

At her apartment one afternoon, their first apart after a three day stint, she realized how strange it felt to be alone. So she called him up on the phone, forwent hellos and jumped straight to the thought that wouldn't stop swirling in her mind.

"What are we?"

"Humans." He answered.

"I mean really."

"You're mine and I'm yours."

"Officially?" She asked.

"Is that the answer you were looking for?"

"Yes."

"Then yes. Officially."

From then on it was more learning one another which was a treat and at times a downer. Roger found out that Jody had somewhat of a quick temper while she realized just how moody he could be. There were times when she'd swear that she was dating two different people. Gemini not included. It seemed that while Roger was content he hadn't been living out that emotion. For the most part she rode along with the changes but sometimes it aggravated her to the point where she had to leave.

If they were going to belong to each other though, Jody figured she would have to learn a better way of dealing with it than just walking out in annoyance. From the looks of it that was what she was going to have to do this morning.
