All throughout the night Jody's prince held her in his arms. If she strayed to one side of the bed, he wasn't far behind. When she got up to go to the bathroom, his sleepy arms latched onto her as soon as she came back. It was a feeling she adored, being secured in such a way.
Tommy liked to hold her too but...well of course that was different. Jody never felt Tommy's presence in her sleep like she did Roger's. His aura was so potent that he appeared in her dreams. Though she didn't visually see him, his spirit was there.
Kinda like now. His spirit was here in the room but his body wasn't. Just like the old days, Jody woke up alone. When she opened her eyes, it was to a piece of paper on the pillow where Roger's head should've been. Sitting up, she read.
Good morning, baby. I guess it'll be afternoon by the time U wake up.
Don't freak out and don't get mad. I promise I'm still in the country and I haven't left the state. But I did leave the house. I had some business 2 take care of early this morning. The sight of U sleeping in my bed, wearing my pajamas was 2 good 2 interrupt, so I let U be. 2day is scheduled 2 be busy 4 me, but I'm not going 2 let that stand in the way of me being with U. I know U have things to do as well, but try and make it back here 2 this house by around 7? I wanna take U out. There's some faces I want U 2 meet. Maybe later we could stay in? There's a car waiting 2 take U wherever U need 2 go. Oh and don't worry about the strange woman downstairs, she's only the housekeeper, not one of the harem.
I'm counting the hours until I see ur smile again. I love U.
P.
She read over his 'I love U' again before setting the letter to the side. Jody admired that he was aware she'd want to kick his ass if he had pulled another disappearing act.
Again, she thought.
Arms up, she did a full body stretch, flexing the last bits of sleep away from her muscles. Hand rubbing over her face, she yawned. The mirror above catching her eyes, mouth taking on a curved smirk at the reflection of herself. In his bed, underneath his covers, wearing his silk. In this minute, she felt like a teenage girl giddy over her crush saying 'hi' to her for the first time.
"I wanna stay this way forever." she swooned. Then came the hammer. Groaning weakly, "But there's still so much shit we need to talk about."
And she wished there wasn't. But Jody knew that the phrase 'better left unsaid' didn't apply to everything.
They started last night, only chipping at the iceberg. She was surprised that Roger had been so open about and seemingly acceptant of the thorn in his side. He's grown thats for sure.
Now Jody hoped that he'd be just as forthcoming about the rest of it. The murders. The drugs. She wasn't about to play her old game of look the other way and say nothing. There was no letting this go, especially since she inserted herself into the situation when she took that public stance against Linda.
Linda. Another lie. Another box of questions I need answered.
Jody wanted nothing more than to cut all of these strings so that she and Roger could try and reweave something new. Talk everything out like adults. She was done with lies, anger, and hurt. All she craved now is harmony and understanding. If he's willing to accept it, Jody's ready to give.
She just had to make sure not to fall under his spell and get distracted like she did last night.
In the mirror, smiling big. Teenage giddy returned.
