Chapter Twenty Six - Surprise!

“My feet hurt.” Isabelle moaned as the taxi hit a bump in the road.

So far we’d been to a few shops, the Natural History Museum (for the dinosaurs), where I used to live in London, the park near where I used to live and lastly the cinema.

“Your feet hurt because you had one more bag than the rest of us.” Kassie replied.

Everyone had bought something from the shops and Steve and I were the only ones to take backpacks to put some of the stuff in. we had about 5/6 bags each. We were heading back to the hotel after a long day.

Tomorrow we were going to Harrods. But tomorrow was more exciting for me because that was when my book came out in stores. Usually it would’ve come out in a couple weeks but John was adamant about it coming out as soon as it possibly could. I made sure the Waterstones in Exeter had ordered some of the books.

“When are we going to the restaurant thing?” Janet asked for the fiftieth time.

I sighed and dropped my head against the wall. I was sitting against the wall in the lounge reading whilst Steve and Janet watched the TV; Kaci was in the bedroom watching YouTube. Kassandra and Isabelle had gone for a walk.

“Janet we still have an hour and a half before we have to leave.” I replied before Steve had a go at her.

She groaned and I gave her the evils, she wasn’t looking. I heard the lock in the door click and then Izzy appeared.

“Hot chocolate anyone?” she asked gesturing to Kassie who had 6 hot chocolates on a tray in her hands.

I put my book down and bum shuffled over to them, and then stood up. The delicious smell of hot chocolate and marshmallows wafted my way and I sniffed deeply. Kassie handed me one and I sipped cautiously. The liquid spilled into my mouth and I nearly spat it out.

“Hot, hot, hot, hot, hot, hot!” I babbled.

“Well yeah, genius, its hot chocolate.” Isabelle replied.

I scowled at her.

“Kaci! They brought hot chocolate!” I yelled at Kaci.

“I know, I heard you yelling hot!” she answered grinning.

“Yeah, well it is!” I replied truthfully.

“What hot? Like hot like Nathan hot?”

“Kaci. How is Alex?” I countered grinning myself.

“Yeah how is Alex? You haven’t really been very descriptive in that department.” Steve cut in.

Oh yes Steve got my back! Kaci glared at us as we smiled at her. Sometimes we could be so mean to each other.

“Just drink your hot chocolate.” Kassandra snapped at us.

My hot chocolate sat nearly finished by my side as I read. I’d just got to the bit in Clockwork Angel where Tessa meets the dark sisters when someone knocked on our door.

“I’ve got the pillow don’t worry.” Steve reassured us and aimed her pillow at the door.

I rolled my eyes and got up to open it.

My hand closed around the handle just as a voice called out.

“Room service!” it called jokingly.

John Green. I opened the door wide for him. He smiled at me funnily and I gestured for him to step in. Steve’s mouth opened as she saw him and the pillow fell to the floor with a soft thump, her arm stayed up though. There was another thump and I looked to my right and saw that Kassie had dropped her book.

“You little liar.” She accused.

I had maybe told them I was down in London to see some old friends. Maybe.

“Well I wanted it to be a surprise.” I explained. They all glared at me angrily.

 “I’ve missed something haven’t I?” John guessed looking puzzled.

“Is this why you told us to bring a John Green book?” Izzy asked not quite as angry looking as the others.

“Sorry I had to talk to someone. Hi everyone.” Jo greeted stepping through the still open door.  

If my friends didn’t look surprised before then they definitely did now.

“Surprise!” I yelled throwing my arms out.

Okay so I glanced at word count on Microsoft Word today and it turns out there are 22,032 words in this story so far! That's even more than my first fan fic! Well I was wondering whether to do a second book instead of writing the book Gwen writes, thoughts?
