Chapter 3: First day of Class:

I wake up in my room. My head hurts a lot. I can't remember anything that occurred last night. All I remember is being really mad at Josh for tricking me. I flip onto my side and glance at my phone. It's 8:30. Oh shoot! I already missed first period. Quickly, I leap out of bed and head towards my closet. I throw on my school uniform and put my hair in my regular side braid. I snatch my schedule card and book bag. Then, take a look at my card:

1st period- Language Arts

2nd period- Geometry

3rd period- Social studies

4th period- Home Ec.

5th period- Chemistry

6th period- Physical Education

After a quick glance, I bolt out the door and into my geometry class. I was right on time. But I will have to talk to my first period teacher later about my absence.

"Okay class. If you could please stand in the back of the room. So I can tell you where you will be seated." Mrs. Jones explains. After about 20 names she announces:

"Alexander Scott, you will be sitting in the back of the room with Isabelle Hazle, Josh Tyler, and Levin Robin."

Oh great. Josh. Whatever, I'll just talk to Isabelle and Alexander and ignore him. I wander over to the table and sit next to Isabelle. In front of me sits Josh and beside him, Alexander.

"Okay class open your books to page 50. We will be starting chapter 1 with a quick review on basic geometry." Ms.Jones says, while grabbing a marker to write on the board.

"Hey, Lev-"

"Shut it." I hiss and turn back to face the board.

"Levin. C'mon talk to me." Josh says.

I decide to ignore him for the rest of class. It's too late for him to apologize. The rest of the class goes by very slowly. Geometry sucks.

"RING!"

The bell rings and I head off to Social Studies, my third period. We follow the same procedure in the class, except that my best friend isn't in this class but Alexander is. I should get to know him better. Hopefully, we will sit together again.

"Okay class. So as you can see, in this class it's 3 people to a table. You may chose where you want to sit, as long as you are quiet while in your seat." Mr.Reinhold explains.

Yes! I rush toward the desks in the front of the class. Alexander asks if he can sit next to me and I nod. Destin, Isabelle's boyfriend sits on the other side of me. I look back to see that Josh is glaring at us. Oh well, it's not like I did anything wrong. My thoughts are interrupted by Mr. Reinhold who is beginning to explain the difference between Rome and Greece. It's actually quite interesting.

Fourth period goes by in a blur. Unfortunately, I have had every class period with Josh so far. But I've also had every class with Alexander, which isn't bad.

I open the door to my fifth period class, chemistry. Like in all my other classes, the teacher makes us stand in the back of the room, until we are seated with our chemistry partners.

"Dylan, you are paired up with Emily. Rachel, you are paired up with Alexander. Isabelle, you are paired up with Jennifer. Lastly, Josh, you will be with Levin." Mr. Herano says along with many other names that I don't recognise.

I head over to my seat and sit down next to Josh. He looks over at me, but I ignore him. I still can't believe what he did to me and what else he probably did while I was drunk. But the least i know the better. The teacher is rambling on about the safety rules, while I am fiddling around with the test tubes.

"Psst." Josh taps my shoulder.

I ignore him.

"Levin listen, I have to talk to you."

I keep ignoring him. I can see the anger forming in his eyes. But, I can't say I really care.

"Class, if you and your partner could each please grab a miniature test tube, fill it with red and blue food coloring and fill a larger test tube with salted water. Then I need you to mix them together, add sugar and share your results with each other. When I come around, I expect you to be working together. That means you must talk. Okay, you may begin." Mr. Herano instructs.

Josh hands me a small test tube and I fill it with blue food coloring, he fills his with red. Then, I snatch the large test tube and mix the the blue and red food coloring into the salt water, just before mixing in the sugar.

"Levin. We have to speak if you want to get a good grade."

"Okay." I retort.

"Finally, you are talking. Listen, I'm really sorry about last night. It's just I couldn't help myself, you're so beautiful." Josh apologizes for like the tenth time.

I scoff, "Leave me alone Josh. The teacher said to talk about the experiment. Not this. So stop. Oh, and just so you know I am really mad and I don't want to hear a single word from you ever again, jerk."

"You know, Levin. I respect you, so I promise I'll stop speaking." He whispers.

Finally! He'll stop talking. My moment of happiness isn't long though, Josh leans in and says,

"Hey but Lev, lets work on chemistry now instead. I promise I won't talk."

With that, he forcefully presses his lips against mine, and kisses me, hard. I squirm, trying to get him off me. I manage to push him off. Tears start running down my face as he tries to explain that he is sorry, once again. I look around the room and see everybody's dumbfounded faces are staring at us. Scared, I run out of the classroom and into the hallway. There, I break down and cry about everything. The tears run endlessly down my face and I feel like the whole world is ending. How could someone be so bad? Suddenly, I hear someone burst through the door and make his way over to me. I look up to see Josh.

Before I even have a chance to escape, he slams me against the lockers and says, "Lev, you can't runaway from me forever." As he tries to kiss me again.

I struggle to get out of his grip, the tears running down my face fiercely now. Luckily, Mr.Horano steps out to my rescue before he can manage to kiss me.

"Mr. Tyler! Let the young lady go. JOSH TYLER, NOW!" he yells.

Josh releases me and I can see that his light blue eyes are a darker shade now. I tumble to the floor. Mr. Horano helps me up and tells me that I can go home for the rest of the day and that my absences will be excused. As I walk away, I hear yelling and assume that Josh will be facing some consequences.

After a long trip, I make it back to my dorm, open the door, and sit down on my bed. All I do is think. I think about how much easier it would be if I wasn't in this school. I think until my head runs out of thoughts and I become immensely tired.

After about an hour and a half, I hear the school bell ring, signaling that school is over. Good, because I really need to talk to Isabelle right now. I hear a knock on the door.

"Who is it?" I ask.

"Isabelle." She says. Finally.

I stumble over to the door and open it. But it's not Isabelle at the door, it's Rachel.

"What do you want?" I question.

"You. I think you are aware of who "the populars" are, right?" I nod, "Well I would like to invite you to join us." Rachel says.
