"And that is how the Earth we live in was actually born. Any questions?"
The teacher turned towards her class, her brown eyes inspecting each child's expression. Her brown hair which held a few strands of grey in between swung back as she turned. If one looked closely, a golden strand would be seen at the fringe.
Pushing her spectacles up from the bridge of her nose with a beautifully manicured finger, she flipped through a notebook when a student called out to her.
"Miss!"
"Yes, Ruby?"
"Do aliens exist?"
A boy beside her snorted. "Really Ruby? Obviously not. We humans are the supreme beings." The girl, Ruby, frowned and stuck her tongue out at the boy who returned the gesture. "I wouldn't be so sure of that, Thomas." The children gazed up at the teacher who had a curious expression on her face.
"We are not alone. Not now, not ever. Its just hidden from us, it maybe even next to us.", she said, whispering the last part.
Snapping out of her trance, she looked at her watch. "When does this session end?"
"In another hour and half, miss.", came the answer in a chorus.
"Then it seems I have time.", she whispered to herself, glancing out of the window at the sun which was at its highest.
She seated herself on her chair and clasped her hands on her lap. "I'm going to tell you a story.", she started. "To you all, it may seem childish and made up but truthfully speaking, it was real as you and me.
In school, we learn that the solar system is made up of eight planets. Well, I say nine. And its not Pluto. Between the Earth and the moon is a planet invisible to the eyes of earthlings. You see, when core of the Earth was forming, there was dispute of forces, scientific forces as well as magical ones. This caused that piece of molten rock to separate into two, which later formed two brother planets. Earth and Beremuth."
The children were silent as mice. Anticipation grew in each one, waiting for the next. Never had they remained this quiet. It was a rare moment.
"These two planets were connected. By what was called the silver bridge. Made of delicate silver thread like structures, it was pure magic! Slowly the planets became inhabited by people. Earthlings, us and Beremuthians looked similar. Oh, but the beliefs were different.
We went against magic, more into practical thoughts and brought up different theories and hypotheses. But they, they developed on magic as well as practical things. Their planet was highly developed than ours. But everything has flaws. Theirs became a threat for us, even though we didnt know of it. For us, villains in history are characters like Hitler. For them, it was a creation. A ruined creation."
She paused for a while, looking down, as if she was reminiscing everything. "What happened after that?", Ruby asked.
"After that?", she asked, amused. "My dear, the story hasn't even begun. This is just the background information. Our story's heroes are three teenagers. Two girls and a boy. In Beremuth, being compared to them was an honour because their courage and bravery was that great. They accomplished something so great that it is why we aren't on our knees, struggling for our survival. They are the reason our planet isn't overrun with evil.
Our story starts in a house in Massachusetts, USA. A tragic accident."
