Why me?! I quickly pulled on a shirt and a pair of jeans, and sporting a pair of sneakers, rushed out of the house. Mom had told me to go grocery shopping but to be back by 4:00pm. Its 3:45pm now. Unfortunately, Nash made me lose track of time by making me play with him. Oh, I am so dead!

"Our first character, Elsa Ariande. Dark-haired and lean, she was one for whom lucky wasn't quite the word. Stark grey eyes which mysteriously seemed golden under the sun, she was the first child of Maria and Levin Ariande and sister to 8 year old Nashter. Elsa was a bright child, the pride of her parents. She wasn't outspoken. Seeing her angry is rare. Alas, her kind nature wasn't enough to forego her tragic fate."

Sunday afternoon, January 2nd, Elsa rushed out of the house, screaming "I hate you, Nash!" as she closed the door behind her. She went around the colony to a garage where her bike was kept. She raced down the street, her roughly braided hair flying behind her wildly.

The cold, winter breeze hit her face as she skilfully twisted her bike through the traffic, waving hellos to her neighbors. The beginning of the evening was announced as a single red strip of ray lit up in the sky. Elsa knew she was screwed. She was supposed to go grocery shopping an hour ago by her mother's orders.

"Only a little further....", she muttered to herself but suddenly jammed on her brakes. There was a huge traffic jam in front of her. To make things worse, the cars were so close that she couldn't slip through. It seemed that a petrol tank had exploded and the fire was blazing sky high. It was so large that the fire department couldn't put it out. The orange-red tendrils of the fire tickled the sky as sweat poured from the foreheads of the people who were trying to put out the blazing inferno.

"Come on!!", Elsa mumbled impatiently. Then she paused for a while. A thought struck and she smiled mischievously.

Elsa had........abilities. She could do stuff. Stuff that you only see in fairy tales.

Elsa's grey eyes scanned the area for a water hydrant and spotted one on a nearby pavement. When she made sure that no one was looking, she motioned her hands towards it. At first, the only sound was of the honking of the cars and the crackling of the fire. Suddenly, the ground started rumbling and the hydrant burst open, spraying a jet of water.

The people standing around jumped back in surprise, gazing up at the groundwater spurting out.

Elsa grinned and then moved her hand towards the petrol tank and the water followed it. It stopped directly on the fire and slowly dowsed it. Some impatient fellows moved a bit forward as soon as the fire went out. Even though they were stopped by the authorities, it created a small way, big enough for a bicycle. Seeing the gap, Elsa quickly cycled through, not waiting to see the aftermath.

The traffic still persisted though, and Elsa took a half hour to get back. She cycled back through a detour to avoid the traffic.

When the seventeen year old returned home, she saw her mother surrounded by two police women. "What's going on here?", she inquired. Maria Ariande rushed to her daughter and pulling her into a hug, said, "Sweet cheeks, I.......oh......do you know about the w..water hydrant that burst open today at the central junction?"

Elsa grinned and nodded. "Yeah! Cool, wasn't it?" Suddenly, a thought popped into her head. Had the police seen her use her powers? She prayed that it was anything but that.

Poor Elsa! She should have never wished that.

Maria placed a shivering hand on her heart and stuttered, "Umm....well.....your..your father.....he..." "What?", Elsa questioned.
