Chapter 17: The baby project

"Alright class," started Ms. Skullnik tiredly in her normal raspy voice. "I am going to give you a project to do and you all need a partner." Luna and Marco look over at each other and smile. They have become best friends over the weeks she has been on earth so, they like to do everything together. They haven't talked about the kiss they shared at the concert and Luna hopes he forgot. Things aren't exactly awkward between them and Luna wants to keep it that way. If they ever stopped being friends, she wouldn't know what to do.

When everyone finds themselves a partner, the teacher explains the project.
"Alright class, this project will be 50% of your grade. You and your partner will care for a baby doll as if it was your own. It will last two weeks and then if your babies are in one piece, you get an A." Everyone nods showing they understand. The teacher hands out the baby dolls to each pair. Marco and Luna got a girl. At lunch, the friends sat at their usual table and showed each other their baby dolls.

"We got a girl," stated Janna with her partner Ferguson.

"We got a boy," stated Jackie with her partner Alfonso.

"We got a girl," stated Luna with her partner Marco.

After school, Marco and Luna went to the store to get their "baby" some supplies. They get a pink onesie that says,"Daddy's Little Girl." They got another one that says," Princess," with a yellow crown on the top. They got a baby carrier with a pink blanket. They also got a pink pacifier, a bottle and a pink bib. They know it is a lot for a doll but, they thought they should have some fun with it. After they pay, they put the baby in the stroller they also bought and walked down the block heading to the park. When they get there, they find a bench and set the stroller next to it. They then sit down relaxing.

"Who knew a fake baby would take this much work?" Marco said chuckling. Luna chuckles sighing, staring at the pale blue sky with fluffy white clouds. She then stares at the trees, branches with green leaves swaying in the wind. Luna then stares at their "child" and smiles. She then thinks for a moment.

"Why don't we name our child," Luna said. Marco looks over and chuckles. "Alright, what do you have in mind?" Marco asked. Luna thinks for a moment before she thinks up a name. "How about Kiara?" Luna suggests. "Kiara, I like it," Marco says looking at their "child."

They did one stroll around the park, fed Kiara, burped her and changed her. They then put her down in her carriage for a nap before leaving the park and heading home. When they get home, they see Marco's parents setting the table for dinner.

"Hey kids!" Mr. Diaz said gleefully. "Dinner is ready!" Mrs. Diaz said in a sing song voice. They all sit down and eat dinner. "So, how was school?" Mr. Diaz asked putting some food into his plate. "It was good, we are actually parents for two weeks," Marco says. The parents look at the kids confused. "Its a project," Luna said chuckling. The parents laugh continuing to eat. After dinner, they all head to the living room to enjoy a family movie.

When a kissing scene came on the screen, it made Luna feel super awkward and she just got up and went to her room. Marco notices and frowns confused as to why a kissing scene would get her this upset but then he remembers that night at the concert. He then goes up to her room to see if she is ok. She knocks on her door. "Luna?" Her hears nothing. He sighs and tries to open the door but he finds it locked. "Luna, open up," Marco says sighing leaning against the door. He hears footsteps and then a turn of the lock and the door opens revealing Lung's gloomful face. "What do you want?" Luna asked waiting for an answer. For a moment he just stood there not knowing what to say.

Luna nods sadly about to close the door when Marco keeps it open. He then grabs Luna's face and brought his lips to hers. Slowly, she gives in wrapping her arms around his neck while Marco grabs her waist, pulling her closer to him. They stay in the doorway for a moment before they are somehow led to the bed. Luna lays down flat on the bed with Marco on top of her. They make-out on the bed savoring in this moment. After a moment, they slowly fall asleep in eachothers arms.
