To her it is amazing
How strange things
Could bring b a c k the memories
Of times long since p a s t
Little things he liked to do
She never noticed
His dimples
Or the way he laughed
When he stood beside
Her but when he left
The memories
F L O O D E D
Like someone had let loose the hatcH
She never noticed his blond hair
Flecks of sunshine caught in the net of each strand
Or the way he said her name
Sweet like honey dripping into her yearning ears
But when his heart was
Just a tiny whisper away
She would blink
Eyes held fast wishing for a memory to return
She was haunted by the ghost of a stranger
Knowing that the love she once grasped
Was now M I L E S away
S T R E T C H E D
halfway around the world
So far a single wish could not cross
If only she could send a lonely thought his way
But her heart stung with each mile
As he P U R S U E D a life
She knew no longer included her
And the world just winked
Knowing soon the miles would equal
Years
And soon his name would be all but
A sting to her happy forgetful ears
