Dancing in the Fire

She was warm

A cabin for the lost

Set in the mountains of time

A fireplace rested inside

Lighting everything up

With its burning embers

Passion floated gracefully

From her fingers

Snatching the cold out

Of all those that enter

Wiping their feet as they stepped into her rooms

She made them feel ordinary

beautifully at home

Within her wooden walls

Having them do unexpected things

In the D A R K

And equating that to love

When really they were just

Waiting for the sunset to come

So they could set fire

To all that she had become

Burning

Enjoying how she even lit up the dark

Rejoicing as the ashes floated up

Mourning what she had been

Wishing she could have carved

Her name in the planks

Showing she had truly lived

Wishing with each sleepy yawn

That he had not left her in the cold

shivering with each touch of his hand

Knowing he was the only on

Who could warm her

Hearts written to show she had loved him

And not just stared into his chocolate eyes

It was a conundrum of sorts

A chaos springing as the smoke

Clouded their eyes

Even as they danced

Watching the flames swing with them

Fogging up the mirrors of their souls

Knowing they could continue

Until they both turned to ash

A kiss
