To Him, She was just a smiling face
Just a pair of eyes in the crowd
And he never once blinked
Never saw how jealous
Her tiny heart became
When he grins
At girls
Who never see the beauty
Or wonder what he hides behind it
Or see how understanding
He really is
Even when in her heart
She knows he's c r u s h e d
She gasps knowing
This will be her little secret
For she was too young and
Insecure to tell him
What she craves
It could not be brought
To her tiny lips
But in the back of her
Mind
as she sees all the couples
Sneaking kisses
she feels a thought
Slowly c r a w l i n g its way in
"That could be us if you'd
Only grab my hand¨
But his fingers
Would never be in her hands
To her
He felt like
He was just a speck
Like an ant in a sea of green
Something easily dismissed
Crushed by his
love for her
Knowing it would obliterate him
But he saw the pain
And the pleasure
And chose to have them both
Truthfully, he just couldn't get enough
Simple things
Like the way she flipped her hair
Or how she blushed when
He was in her presence
A faint red, that could
Make a rose jealous
She was so beautiful
And not just on the outside
Like so many others
Yet he knew that they
Would never be
And so as he saw the couples
Holding hands
He wished hers was
Inside his
And yet he knew
He would never
Feel her fingers
Inside his
