She looked at the bizarre girl
In the pictures
A girl composed of bones
Ripped edges just like her skin
Not recognizing the form
Hunched over in the agony of a moment
So broken she could barely see a light in her eyes
Blinking as they bore into the heart
That was the same but so much stronger
To her it was no more than a stranger
Wearing the same face
But now it was clothed with the dress of a fighter
A queen of tears
Ruling the kingdom
That promised only the smiles of tomorrow
A world composed of hellos and hugs
Instead of harsh words and knives
Stabbed into the tenderest of parts
She grinned knowing that if the world dared to break her
She would just watch as she bled
Stabbing every raw thought
Never showing
The bittersweet wounds of her struggle
She would just straighten her crown
Brightening her jewels
Lifting it ever so high
Hoping everyone could see
Heels that showed her strength
Scars that reeked beauty like the
Most fragrant of perfumes
Never letting her spine b-r-e-a-k with the pressure
She never let her wishbone outgrow her backbone
Her confidence shone
Making it hard for to anyone to remember
That she had ever been so insecure
She wished she could have
Been then for her old self
To her hold her
Hugging her with the promises of a truly greater future
A beautiful self that was near
Because now she believes in the gift she is
And the promises of days without
The essence of pain
