Chapter 15: Night Flight

Willow's P.O.V

I moonlit flight with Skylar, just what I needed right now. 

Hiccup had set us on night flight duty. It was the second time for me in 4 days. For those who don't know about the night flight, it involves two Vikings staying up half the night. Fun times! You'd think I would be tired, what from the night flights, training Glenn, and dragon academy. But surprisingly I wasn’t, in fact I was awake, too awake. It was the feeling I got when I knew something bad was about to happen. Call it a gut feeling, but I was extremely tense. Even the cool night air and gorgeous view couldn’t calm me down. My eyes were completely dancing around trying to catch sight of whatever had put me on edge.

“You ok?” Skylar asked his eyes on me. I shrugged breathing in deeply as something caught my nose. It was coming from just over the peak of Berk up ahead.

‘Go up there’ I said to Felix with my mind.

‘Why?’ He asked curiously. I informed him briefly of the smell I had caught, it was dragon alright, but something wasn’t quite right. Felix quickened his wing pace soaring over to the mountain. He soared a good several feet over the peek. Most people would have felt breathless from the lack of air, but not me, I’m a dragon remember.

I breathed in again. The sent was gone. I sighed; my nose was playing up. I turned back to Skylar who has followed me.

“Sorry, false lead.” I said to him, but he wasn’t looking at me, rather over my shoulder.

“Not false.” He whispered, Felix spun around buffeting me slightly as I tried to stay on.

I scanned the horizon, and that’s when I saw them. A great blob against the horizon: darker than the rest of the sky. Silver ones.

“Blow the horn!” I exclaimed. Skylar looked at me blankly.

“I don’t have it, I thought you had it.”

I gritted my teeth angrily, we needed to alert the rest of Berk. But without the horn we didn’t have anything loud enough.

“What about the dragons?” Skylar asked reading my thoughts…. Literally

I looked at the dragons before looking doubtfully at Skylar. “I don’t think two will be loud enough.”

He laughed, I looked at him outraged, this was no time to laugh. “But you forget, there aren’t two dragons, there are 4!” He shouted the last few words before running across Sapphire’s wing and leaping off. I sighed before copying him; I put on a burst of speed. I jumped off Felix’s wing before summersaulting through the air. It took a few seconds to grasp my power before I changed.

Just for the fun of it I kept my wings tucked to my side until we got dangerously close to the ground. I snapped them out my legs brushing the tops of trees. The houses weren’t far away so I started roaring. My roars were joined by Skylar and then Sapphire and Felix. I sucked in a deep breath and roared again.

There were shouts and clamoring throughout the streets as people ran out of their houses to see what was going on. I let my consciousness float out to the confused villagers.

‘ATTACK!’

Me: Hey Toothless! 

Toothless: Hello:)

Me: Well got two questions today, both from TallestSilver. 

Toothless: Ahhh yes TallestSilver, I rememeber. 

Me: So, TallestSilver is wondering what training the dragons have been doing, I know that you and the other dragons often have to be with their riders, but what do they do for their benefit?

Toothless: You're right, we are pretty busy with our riders, but some of the other dragons, my family, the other night furys and a few of the wild dragons train with Noctis. He holds nightly sessions which are really helpful. Over the years he's learnt a lot about fighting other dragons. I won't say much about what exactly we learn there because that's kinda clasified information, but let's just say none of us come back without a few claw marks.

Me: Owww sounds gory.

Toothless: We try not to be to rough.

Me: Hmmm yeah you might need to try harder. *clears throat* And the second question is, ummm what's happening with the Tempest situation.

Toothless: >:( Well...

Me: Actually, you know what we might hold that question untill the next chapter. Sorry tallestSilver, i'll try and get Toothless to answer it tomorrow.

Toothless: I can answer that now the truth is he is being a ..... removed for young readers own safety....

Me: Ok we'll answer that properly next update hey:D

Toothless: But I just answered it already!

Me: Well come up with a better answer. Anyway, thanks TallestSilver for the questions, hope Toothless answered them. 

So that next question about Tempest will be answered in the next chapter.
