Chapter 29: Recovery

Willow's P.O.V

A quarter of an hour later Sapphire and Felix along with Hiccup and Toothless arrived with the sling. Hiccup immediately began to treat Skylar’s wing while advising Astrid how to set his broken leg. When Hiccup had bandaged the wing and adjusted Astrid’s setting of his leg they began to edge the sling under him, all the time I stayed at his head and spoke softly to him. Then they attached the ropes from the sling to Felix and Sapphire along with Sprine and Gwen who had come to help. I still insisted on staying with him in the sling and when we got back to Berk. I suspected that the dragon in him had saved his life, if he had have been in human form when he crashed he would have died from the blood loss. But his larger mass as a dragon provided more blood than the normal mass of a human.

Gothi treated him all through the rest of the night and into the next day.

His recovery was slow and I was not allowed to go and see him until two days after we found him.

Astrid came to my house at dusk and told me that she had been sent to fetch me. “He’s been asking for you for a while,” she said smirking, I wondered briefly if she new about the kisses we had shared or what he had said to me before he had crashed. I jumped excitedly up from the table and abandoned my dinner. Astrid gave me a lift on Stormfly but once we reached Gothi’s, they both left me to talk to Skylar alone. Gothis gestured to the door, which I supposed held Skylar behind. I paused at the door feeling a sudden reluctance replace the excitement at seeing him again. Before he had crashed he had said those three words, the three words I had refused to say since I was very young and lived with my father in our peaceful village. Before I could turn away I pushed the door open and came face to face with a wooden bed. I wasn’t really sure what I had been expecting, perhaps a dragon perhaps a sick guy in bed, but neither of these fit the description of what was before me.

Skylar was sitting up and smiling at me like he had never seen anything so wonderful. I blushed slightly as I sat down in the chair next to his bed.

“So… what’s new?” I asked not having anything to say. He stretched out a hand from underneath his blanket. I tried to mask my fear with surprise, but the look he gave me displayed that he saw right through the demeanor.

“I don’t bite… in this form anyway.” I chuckled slightly at his stupide joke. I inhaled sharply as he slowly ran his thumb across the back of my hand. It almost seemed like the air was static around us, as much energy rebounding off us as two night furys blasting each other. “You’re so beautiful, you know that.”

At this I would have fallen out of my chair if he had not pulled me towards him at that very moment and kissed me. I melted into him. When we broke apart we were both breathing heavily. I sat on the edge of his bead my hand still in his.

“I meant what I said, right before I crashed.” I looked into his eyes and knew he was telling the truth. “I love you.”

I smiled down at our hands. For the first time in a long time I was finally ready to open up to someone in that way.

“How do you feel?” He asked looking slightly fearful.

“Well I suppose you will just have to find out, won’t you.”

“Ahh, in slight indesicion?” He asked again. I laughed and shook my head.

“Oh no, I know my answer but you will have to find it out.” No way was I going to tell him that yet. A girl can’t be that easy to win.

“Oh… playing hard to get are we?” I nodded happily. “Well now I suppose I’ll have to get better won’t I?” He grumbled mockingly.

I also found out some said information about HTTYD 3 (or 4 depends which is the last one 

Although the series has taken a different path of telling a story of Hiccup and Vikings, Cressida Cowell has revealed that the trilogy and the book series will share their ends (with "an explanation as to why dragons are no more")

I hope this doesn't mean the dragons all die:(
