Chapter -24- Carmen: Hidden History

Looking to Carmen momentarily, I see the seriousness of her facial expression, I see the gravity of the matter. But this is my mate and my response is stoic "I will do what I can" .

For now at least,  Alpha will not tell him. So I begin "Alexi's father Eduardo, a necromancer was first Alpha. His father was proud, strong, power hungry, most of all Eduardo was arrogant. He prided himself on being the Alpha of the Celestial Guardian pack. Proud to have a Luna who herself, has a Celestial Wulf Guardian. Until Alexi was born.

 At first, Eduardo's pride & arrogance doubled at the birth of his son who, like his mother, also bore the Diamond mark on the center of his forehead, the mark of a Celestial Wulf companion. Over time however, that changed and so did he. Eduardo grew jealous, slowly despising his own son.

It got worse when he saw Alexi  show more of his softer side. He then began loathing Alexi, who at age 7 phased instead of 15, at age 14 summoned lightning and defended by himself, our pack from a mysterious sudden rogue attack.

Alexi won the heart & respect of the whole pack when he did. Everyone that is,  But is Father's. The only one who had begun seething hatred & loathing his own son for being more powerful than he & for being gay. There was no other reason Alpha.

Eduardo saw this preference as a disease that made Alexi, in his eyes as a weakness to our pack. When it was discovered that his very father had orchestrated the rouge attack in an attempt to kill his own son. THAT! was when everything changed. It all ended when Sable then age 14, challenged the Alpha to lead the pack....... and he won."

My eyes open wide. Fixing solely on Alexi, backing away from the banister til my back hits  against the cabin wall. I stay here  to see better both my mate battling & Carmen. "At only 14 yrs. of age HE BECAME ALPHA!!" It can't be, my heart sank, arms crossing over my pushed out chest.

"Yes, Alpha. Your Luna is the true Alpha of the CELELSTIAL GUARDIAN PACK. As you already know, our pack Mostly contains mystic and elite warrior class Wulves. We are also around 2,000 strong to serve our purpose. After sable defeated his father and ordered his banishment.

Alexi knew he was too young for the mantle. He decided his mother would lead the pack til it was time. Having made this decision, he assembled the entire pack informing its members of his decision. Until now our Alpha is Carrie." 

Turning to Ruben, no longer watching the pair in battle. I pause for a second "There is something else you should know Ruben. Something which, as I tell you, will allow you to truly understand why we protect him so fiercely.

Why we made sure OUR ALPHA, YOUR LUNA was previously, was never left alone unprotected. Until you got here. until today. Alexi made a promise to himself a self-sworn commitment." 

I focus on Carmen now, intently "What was this promise?"

With pride in my tone and a glint in my eye I look to my future Alpha "Alexi promised he would merge his pack with his mate's pack if he learned his mate was also an Alpha.

His self-imposed promise back then and even now, as he suffers with amnesia. Often time, I sat with him. One night in his apt.  He has spoken of this. How he remembered this. I don't know how he has, but besides his mother, brother and myself. This is the only other thing he has remembered."

My body and face feign a stoic attitude, unaffected by what Carmen just told him. Yet my eyes gradually betrayed me, showing my emotions I concealed within. Tears form and fall forth as my eyes danced, looking from my mate in the battle before me to Carmen. 

Returning, I lock them on Alexi. A single tear quietly runs down my cheek. My mate, suffers with Amnesia, yet he held onto his mate decision regardless. My thoughts turn to shame "he made this decision before meeting me. While I was prepared to make a decision I would have regretted."  I felt ashamed.

Carmen took two steps over to me, gazing into my eyes as she places one hand on my face cupping it. She smiles brimming prideful saying her next statement "Yes Ruben, Alexi loved you before this day. Not even Amnesia took this from him. He often feared rejection because of his affliction. But now We, his family can leave his care safely in your hands. Welcome home to your Luna and your new family..... my Alpha". 

With those words, I silently reach & embrace Carmen as if she were a sister I lost and found after years of absence. My voice croaks as I look back to her eyes. "Thank you Delta Seer of our pack" my intent clear, we hug. We simultaneously focus our gaze onto the two Wulves sitting now howling, their tails wagging.

Crimson chimes in "Now, you know why he is special to them. His possession of a firey will but gentle heart"

My only reply "and more so to me".
