-28- We are Family

I catch and carry my Alejandro back up the porches two steps and inside. The door held open by Roderick who could not help adding as we enter "Awe how romantic carrying him over the Threshold". WHACK! Carmen smacks him in the head from behind as she enters chuckling at me saying, "DAMN that felt good!" Roderick rubs his head yelling "BITCH! Wha Da Fuck". I Half smiled half growled, saying: "He's My Baby."

l smile at Reuben, my future brother-in-law & Alpha speaking with a tender tone "I know big guy. We ALL KNOW!" Reuben smiles. I watch him this time lowering his gaze to my sleeping brother in his arms. I race past him to open the bedroom door, then pull back the sheet on the bed before returning to the door. Reuben comes upstairs and into the bedroom, placing a naked Alejandro on the bed before laying down next to him in his bathrobe. He wrapped his arm around Alejandro in peace and in bliss repeating his earlier words "MY. MATE". I can tell he is feeling the emotion those words hold.

From the doorway for a moment, I watch my brother still asleep, shift, turning over. Now facing and laying his head on Reuben's chest. I watch for a moment as Reuben cradles him in, keeping him safe. Safe within his cradled arms. For the first time, I see a look on his face we have all missed since it happened. My brother is at peace. My emotions swell for him. I feel a slight touch of sadness in my heart, not knowing what awaits me. But it will not matter I and my sista Alejandro will always be brothers. As I pull close the door, my eyes meet Reubens. Smiling, I bow my head and tell him "Welcome Home my Alpha." I return the smile saying, "Thank You... (I have his full attention)........my Beta".

I close the door. Standing there afterward for a moment, my head down my eyes closed, I continue holding the knob but sigh with relief. I smile my sadness gone. Lifting my head, I am sure. Turning away, stepping downstairs with renewed confidence. I will never know this sadness again because I will not have to. I will grow old at the side of my brother Alejandro, the only family I have ever known. Thank you, Goddess.

Heading into the kitchen to help Carmen with dinner, I throw my question "soooo?" her response to her "So WHAT?" responding to Roderick while cutting up corn and put it in the pot with the peppers, meat, potatoes, celery, and Spanish sofrito which I don't cook without......beef stew is for dinner. I lean, bumping shoulder to shoulder into Carmen. "Beyotch Don't you wat me? You know what I mean Witch Hazel."

I was facing the counter my back to him cutting up more vegetables. Now I stop giving attention to cutting. embedding the knife point down into the cutting board leaving it standing hilt up. Turning my head looking above the rim of my glasses, peering at Roderick giving him my attention I say "Yes, dumb ass we are a family we are going with him. What did you expect? Now can I finish cooking?"

I turn to Carmen, smiling. Wrapping my arms around her, giving her a hug & kiss "ALLLL RIGHT MAMA! ya know ya my gurl right?"

I smile and laugh replying from his embracing arms. "I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO PUTS UP WITH YOUR DUMB ASS! I AM!!!! SOMEONE HAS TO KEEP YOU IN LINE!!" Roderick grins saying "OH YEAHHHH. I forget that. By da way. Did ya kno he was lookin fer a Beta?" still cutting I look from the corner of my eyes "Hm, nope"

"Yeah, HE WAS. "

I try to hide my smirk. "Who?"

"Ya momma came all da way here from da dead world and ya don't know really witch hazel DON'T YA GO AND TRYIN PLAY ME, WOMAN!! I ain't dumb."

I bump into my new Beta "Whoooo MEEEE?" we chuckle. Thinking of my mother's advice, "Both your soon to be Luna and his brother must always remain together Carmen. The Beta markings are the key mi hija (my daughter)" The response I gave "Si Mami (yes mother)"

"Your new Alpha needs to know about them mami"

"I understand mami" I understood now. Whispering to my mother's spirit "thank you" before allowing my NEW BETA to lure me into a different conversation of his. Giving Roderick my attention again.

"So what do you think gurl? Sable is back, and we have BOTH an Alpha and a Luna?"

I grin going back to cutting. "I think we are whole."

Chuckling now leaning shoulder to shoulder with hers, "No Beyotch, dat WAS NOT what I meant. Think Alpha eats a lot? cuz GURL I WANT LEFTOVERS! "

I push him off, "uh, huh. You get leftovers if there is any,"

"What about me?" Bella says, her wulf speak sharp.

We both reply in unison "the runs remember!!" Bella sulks mumbling "Bitches" leaving the kitchen adding "ohh but the big belly BITCH there gets SECONDS!!" Carmen & I burst out hysterical laughing. Roderick saying "DAMN!! dat bitch is CUT THROAT!"

Igniting the stove burners telling Roderick "oh my mother told me what's to come. Soon we will have company, we will need more meat we are running low. Soooo, let's go food shopping tomorrow." Roderick looks at me with a sudden mischievous grin in his eyes first saying "Ah HA!!. SO THAT'S HOW YOU KNEW HE WOULD MAKE ME BETA!!" making me chuckle. Then he grins again, saying, "I have a better idea. Besides, our new Luna can use the exercise aside from showing off his skills to our Alpha. It has been a while since we hunted"

My head snaps around to look at him, nodding my head back and forth rolling my eyes at Roderick with a grin "I know that look AND THAT TONE!".

Roderick acts shocked at the stare. Placing his fingertips on his chest "GURL!! what!!" Then giggles, his eyes sparkling wicked "It's jus a little EX-CER-SIZE!!" he says with a dark snicker smiling.

Carmen: I suck my teeth now pointing my cutting knife at him "Don't Give me that shit. Every time you two go hunting, you make some dumb ass bet before you leave about how the food comes back! And then come back laughing like two freaking HENS!"

Feigning like he will faint putting his hand on his forehead, as he is leaning against the sink. Now using a southern accent "Why sista mother MARY CARMEN!! have you no faith IN MUAH. I AM HURT!".

"UH HUH! Ya full of SHIT!! NOW GET OUT! I need to finish cooking" and laugh. I love those two nuts.

Roderick smirks "I know Alejandro will invite Reuben. It is a mate thing. I am countin on it!"

"AH, HAH!! THAT'S IT!! Poor Alpha!!" I laugh, roll my eyes, shaking my head from side to side. Roderick places a finger to his mouth says "SHUSH BEYOTCH!!! NO TELLING!" we laugh as I hit him with the dish towel.

Later that evening: the 5 sit to eat and Reuben is complimenting on the aroma of dinner. "Carmen Pls tell me you cooked. Because I am not sure if Roderick would poison me or not." Chuckling. "OHHHHH, so Alphas' got JOKES!" Roderick retorts laughing. Reuben is serving Alejandro first "well you never know!!" he says

Once again Roderick's sassy attitude, forever present, comes through "SOOO, that's why you're serving Luna first huh testing the waters" grinning an evil-looking grin.

"SHIT NO!! I prove it" I take a spoonful of beef stew, eating it first. Between the now scalding meat in my mouth, I say "SEE" smiling proudly to my mate chewing "I would die first, to keep you company." Alejandro rolls his eye but, leans into me for a kiss saying "aww My Martyr" Roderick & Carmen smirks.

I had to smirk at Reuben "OH GODDESS?" I roll my eyes with a smile on my face "HA!! SUCKA!! I WOULD POISON YOU FIRST!!
