CHAPTER 60: The Civilian

[Chuck's POV]
Criminal Institute

I get up, and make my way to Duke to check on him. Oh Thank God, he has a pulse. "Get up dude, we gotta go!", I say as he gets up with my help. "Run! There's a door in the back, open it and go left and it's the back door to this place!", we listen to him and make it to the car. Nicole was still waiting. "Thank goodness Joyner found you!", she says, hugging us both. "We gotta go to the hospital. Take and drop us off, come back for the guy.", I say. She speeds to the hospital where I call Clay after getting Duke admitted. "Hey dude. How'd it go?", he asks. "Horrible. We got our asses beat. Dukes in the hospital.", I inform him. "On our way.", Clay responds, I'm guessing he'll want to talk when he gets here. I ride back with Nicole, to make sure she doesn't get jumped or shot. Joyner punches a guy in the face, sending him backwards before he runs to the car. He jumps in the backseat window since they were rolled down and yells for Nicole to punch it. She didn't ask where, because the answer would've been anywhere but here. We stop at her brother's house, he lives relatively close to the institute. We park around back and don't even get out of the car. "How did you do it?", I ask, "Well," he starts, "you could say thank you, and I brought a bottle of Hennessy with me. Hennessy that I might've dropped a little chloroform into. They all drank from the bottle.", Joyner said. "Once they were all passed out I went in there and handled the other three.", I personally don't like the way he said handled. "Okay, well thank you so much. You probably saved our lives, you know.", I said. "Not a problem. I can make it home from here, thanks for the lift Nicole.", and with that we took off. "You know him?", I ask. "Old friend.", she says. "I told him to come to my location when they turned me down. I felt like something was awfully wrong.", boy was she right.
