A/N: Apologies for the late update. Now that I have two stories I am currently writing things are getting difficult XD Also sorry for any spelling or Grammar errors I still can't get the spell check to work.
Kassidy blinked her eyes open and groaned pulling the blanket over her face.
"I was begining to think you were dead." The voice of her favorite blue eyed detective said from somewhere in the room. She slowly, and shamefully pulled the blanket down to look at Detective Rogers. He raised his eyebrows and gave her a small smile.
"What..did I do?" She asked and winced as she flexed the fingers on her left hand looking down noticing they were bandaged.
"What did I break?"
"Well, nothing although you are lucky you didn't break your hand." He said walking over with a bottle of water and some aspirin for her which she took. "You don't remember anything from last night?"
"Honestly its a little foggy." She mumbled and took the aspirin "Nobody got hurt?" She asked. Rogers shook his head.
"Aside from your hand. No Weaver and I found you bladdered under the bridge. Though I do have to ask, why my car?"
Kassidy sighed. "I was going to leave but..I really don't know how to drive so I didn't get far, and I like your car. Its nice." She said and shrugged.
"Aye. It is." He said and crossed his arms.
"I'm sorry." Kassidy said.
"Its okay." Rogers said taking her by surprise. "I'm just glad you weren't hurt." He said. Kassidy nodded and looked down at the black tee shirt in her arms.
"Except you were." Rogers said and sat down next to her.
"I should be used to it." Kassidy said. "I should have known. I told him not to say it if he didn't mean it." She said her eyes welled.
"Say what?" Rogers asked.
"He uh.. He told me he loved me. And..I said it back. He told me he wasn't leaving me this time and like the idiot I am. I believed him."
"Believing that someone can change, doesn't make you an idiot. It makes you human." Rogers said and put his hand on Kassidy's shoulder. Kassidy, unclear of his intentions and not wanting anyone getting close shrugged away from him and stood up.
"Thank you, Detective.. for being understanding, and not arresting me when you could have. But I think.. I'm okay now." She said and tucked her hair behind her ears.
"I will accept that you are okay, after we get something into your stomach. Roni's?" He asked. Kassidy sighed, stubborn as she was Detective Rogers was not one to give up easily.
"Sure." She said and tossed Will's tee shirt into her backpack zipping it up and throwing it over her shoulders. "I might be a little hungry." She said and followed Rogers out of the station.
Rogers and Kassidy walked into Roni's smiling, and laughing with each other as they walked to the bar.
"Am I in the twilight zone?" Roni asked.
"No. Why?" Rogers asked.
"Well, usually when the two of you come in here, its She comes running in trying to hide, and you come running in behind her."
"Well, not today." Rogers said with a small smirk
"Maybe next week." Kassidy smiled. Roni raised an eyebrow and looked at Kassidy
"How are you today?" She asked.
"Hungover." Kassidy replied.
"I can work with that." Roni smirked and walked back to the kitchen.
"So.. this Will how long has he been around?" Rogers asked.
"Long enough." Kassidy replied and propped her elbows up on the bar and rested her chin on her hands.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked." Rogers said.
"Its fine Detective. I'm just glad you aren't trying to look into it yourself." She said. "Will and I go way back."
"What does Will do?" He asked.
"That is a more difficult question to answer because I'm not entirely sure. He's always quiet about it and when I'd ask questions he'd shut them down. Said it was too dangerous for me to know."
"That sounds like hes mixed up in something incredibly illegal." Rogers said and sighed.
"I have no doubt."
"So why stay with him?" Rogers asked. "I know you aren't exactly a model citizen either but whatever he is involved in is clearly not something you need to be mixed up with." He said taking on a rather protective tone. Kassidy was not used to this side of The Detective. She turned her head so she was looking at him. His blue eyes were looking into her she quickly looked away her walls coming back up.
"Well, I'm not exactly with him now.. Am I detective?" She said with bitterness in her tone.
"I'm sorry." Rogers said.
"Don't be." Kassidy said as Roni walked back out of the kitchen with a couple of cheeseburgers and put them down in front of the two.
They ate quietly, with an awkward tension between the two of them.
"Ah. this is more like the two of you." Roni said.
After they ate, Rogers had to get back to work and Kassidy had to get back to her normal routine and start the lengthy process of erasing Will Scarlet from her mind.
"So I guess I'll see you around." Rogers said and scratched the spot behind his ear he normally did when he was uncomfortable.
"Yeah. I'll be here." Kassidy said. "Thanks for everything." She said. Rogers smiled.
"You know if you need any help you just have to ask."
"I'm good Detective. Really." She said and shrugged.
"Alright. Well then try to stay out of trouble then Cole." He smirked.
"Mm I can't promise that Detective. Trouble is my middle name." She smiled.
"Kassidy Trouble Cole?" He asked.
"Its actually Monet." She laughed.
"Much better." He chuckled.
Beautiful Disaster. How fitting. He thought.
"See you later." He said and waved her off.
"Count on it." She said and threw her back pack over her shoulder and walked away.
