Chapter 15 Run

A/N: Just a short suspense chapter (Sorry Opalscorpion XD) I had different plans for this chapter but decided to add a little more suspense before my other plans which will resume next chapter!  Also what do you guys think of the new cover?? <3 Enjoy!  

When Rogers woke up the next morning, he walked out into the living room, The pillow Kassidy used was in the middle of the couch with the blanket folded neatly on top of it. She had taken her clothes that he had washed and put the ones that he let her use in the wash. Rogers raised an eyebrow and walked into the bathroom, the shower had definitely been used he smirked at the heart and K.C. written in the corner of his mirror with lipstick. Of course she did. How on earth had she managed to do all of this without waking him up? He walked back out to the kitchen and looked at the table. There was a toasted strawberry pop-tart on a paper plate and a folded up note. He opened the note.

"Sorry, I can't cook so you get a pop-tart. Thanks for everything Detective. I owe ya.

<3 K.C. "

Rogers smiled and took a bite out of the pop-tart and went to start his day.

Kassidy walked into Roni's and sat down in her spot with a smile on her face.

"Well, someone is happy today." Roni smirked and slid her some orange juice.

"Thank you. and No different than any other day Roni." Kassidy shrugged but smiled again as she sipped at her orange juice.

"You smell nice. What are you wearing?" Roni asked.

"I call it, essence of Detective." Kassidy smirked. "I stayed with Rogers last night."

Roni raised an eyebrow at her and smirked.

"Not like that! I slept on his couch and used his shower this morning with his man soaps which.. do smell nice." She smiled.

"Did you see him this morning?" Roni asked.

"No..but I left a note." Kassidy said "And a pop-tart." Roni chuckled.

"I didn't get a poptart when you stayed with me, Careful Kassidy one might think you actually like the guy."

"Its just a pop-tart Roni not some huge romantic gesture. Although, it was strawberry..which is the best kind maybe I should have toasted the blueberry one.."

"I thought it was just a pop-tart." Roni smiled.

"Hush." Kassidy said.

"So, anything new on Will?" Roni asked. Kassidy shook her head and frowned.

"Its a dead end. The only thing Rogers has is a smashed up burner phone, but he was here. Rogers has been really weird about it though."

"What do you mean?" Roni asked.

"Well, I'm worried about what's happening to Will, and Rogers is worried thinking something is going to happen to me. He asked me a couple weeks ago to actually.. stay with him for a while."

"He did?" Roni asked.

"Yeah. I told him no.. you know me. I don't stay with people."

"You stay with Will." Roni said.

"Thats different Roni.." Kassidy frowned.

"Its not, You stay with Will for a few days when he's here and then he leaves and you don't trust anyone. The only difference is Rogers isn't going anywhere and neither am I, and if he's worried about you, he has a good reason to be. Don't let your stubbornness take the wheel on this one Kass. If Rogers thinks you are in danger then you need to heed his advice."

"I'm fine Roni. No one is coming for me, you guys are just paranoid. Will is just playing his games. Its what he does. He's probably sitting pretty somewhere in Cali with some other girl feeding her the same bullshit he fed me for years."

"Yet you still go back to him." Roni said.

"Can we not talk about all of Kassidy's problems right now?" Kassidy snapped.

"Okay, easy. I just think that maybe you should be more careful and there's more snow coming in tonight so maybe staying with Rogers wouldn't be a bad idea."

"I'll just come here Roni. It will be fine."

Roni sighed. "Fine. Be stubborn."

"I will. Its what I'm good at. I've got to go and find something to do."

"Be careful." Roni said.

"As always." Kassidy smiled and walked out of the bar.

Kassidy sighed as she watched the rain pour down she was standing an awning of a shop building for shelter.

"Make up your freaking mind Seattle. Rain or snow." She grumbled. She felt a hand on her shoulder and turned around to see a couple of men that she didn't know.

"Uh. Hi." She said.

"Kassidy Cole?" One of them asked.

"Who wants to know?" Kassidy asked suspiciously. The older of the two men nodded at the younger and the younger grabbed her arms.

"Come on sweetheart let's get out of the rain." He said. Kassidy fought against him She slipped out of her jacket and took off running both men were hot on her heels.

"Whatever it is you think I've done I didn't do it!" She yelled.

"Oh, We know you didn't do it but you are going to help make who did do it pay!" One of them shouted. Rogers was right. Someone was after her. She pushed herself to run faster her feet pounding against the sidewalk matching the pounding in her heart if she could just make it to the station it would be fine She dropped her backpack in the way tripping up one of the men but she was still being chased by the other one. He grabbed ahold of her hair and pulled her backwards she shrieked as she was yanked backwards and was now being dragged through a really cold puddle. She dug her fingernails into the man's hand until he yelled out and released her. She staggered to her feet and took off again.

Just get to Rogers and you will be fine.

She rounded the corner and stepped wrong twisting her ankle and fell to her knees

"Fuck!" She screamed and looked back both men were after her still.

"Come on!" She sighed and got back to her feet limping/hopping as quickly as she could to the station door she put her hand on it and pulled it open ducking inside and sitting against the door shivering and panting.

"Jesus Kass what happened do you??" Luke asked as he approached her. 

"Rogers." Kassidy choked out trying to catch her breath. . "Get Rogers." She mumbled and passed out against the door.
