Rogers walked into Roni's and up to the bar.
"Roni." He smiled and leaned over peeking behind the bar and sighing.
"What has she done now?" Roni asked and slid him a glass of water.
"She tagged my car, I gave her back her shoe and she jumped off the roof of the station and ran off again." He said and sat down sipping on his water. He'd find Kassidy it was just a matter of time. Roni smirked.
"That must be why I haven't seen her today." She said.
"Does she come here daily?" Rogers asked.
"Most of the time. She'll stop by to get something to eat and drink." Roni shrugged.
"How does she pay for it?" Rogers asked.
"She doesn't, I'd rather her come here if she's hungry than get caught stealing."
"Doesn't seem to stop her." Rogers muttered.
"She's not that bad Rogers." Roni smiled.
"Well, you seem to know her." Rogers said
"I should hope so, shes been coming here every day for almost 4 years now."
"Well, then tell me about her. All I got from Weaver was the run around. Said shes been on her own since she was 17. What happened to her parents?" Roni shook her head.
"She does not like to talk about it and I don't advise you to go digging."
"I just want to know, why she is the way she is and why everyone is so keen to protect her." Rogers sighed. "And how the bloody hell does she keep getting away from me so quickly?"
Roni laughed. "She knows her way around, You don't think you're the first to actually try to put a stop to her antics do you? She's had a lot of practice running from people like you." Roni said. "As far why she is the way that she is, that's not for me to say. The people around here have just gotten used to it. She keeps things interesting that's for sure."
"If people like her so much why has no one taken her in?"
"I tried She stayed one night and was gone in the morning. She doesn't like to stick around in one place very long." Roni said and sighed. "She sleeps in here if it gets too cold for her out there, but other than that she prefers it out there."
The bell on the door jingled and Rogers turned to see who was coming in and quickly turned back to Roni realizing it was Kassidy. He smirked down at his water.
"Don't go arresting her in my bar." Roni said. Rogers raised an eyebrow at her. Kassidy walked over to the bar and sighed Heavily.
"You look exhausted." Roni said.
"Yeah, well that Detective is relentless." Kassidy said as Roni passed her a coke. Rogers couldn't believe she didn't even realize he was sitting right next to her.
"Well, maybe you shouldn't go dropping paint on him, or tagging his car. I told you he wasn't like Weaver." Roni said.
"The paint wasn't for him Roni, it was for Weaver, and I'd apologize for the paint if he'd stop trying to arrest me. I hated messing up that beautiful dark hair of his.." Kassidy smiled. Rogers almost choked on his water.
What? He thought.
"You okay dude?" Kassidy asked and looked over and then fell off the stool. "Fuck!" She yelled "Roni Why didn't you tell me?!"
Rogers stood and walked over to Kassidy as she was scrambling to get to her feet to get away. he rolled his eyes and grabbed her arm helping her to her feet and picking up the stool she fell off of and setting it up right.
"Have a seat Cole." He said.
"I'm..sorry what?" She asked.
"I've been told I'm not allowed to arrest you in here. So we will call it neutral ground." He said. Kassidy hesitantly sat down and stared at him. He looked into her cool gray eyes trying to figure out what was going on in her head She looked back down at her coke and sipped at it slowly.
"So you were saying something about an apology." Rogers smirked. Kassidy looked back at him.
"I'm Sorry about the paint." She said simply and shrugged.
"And my car?" He asked.
"You took my shoe."
"Technically, you gave your shoe to me when you slipped out of it and ran away." He said and smiled.
"I wouldn't have run away if you could take a joke." Kassidy said. Roni rolled her eyes and looked at Kassidy
"You eat yet?" She asked. Kassidy shook her head.
"Nothing besides a donut earlier."
"I'll be right back. You keep yourself out of trouble." She said to Kassidy. Kassidy nodded and smiled. Roni looked to Rogers
"And you keep your handcuffs put away." She said and walked back to the kitchen.
"Is Roni the only person you actually listen to?" Rogers asked.
"I'm sorry Detective, I've been told to keep out of trouble, and my mouth is what gets me in trouble most of the time." Kassidy smirked.
"Noted." Rogers said.
"So, you got a first name Rogers?"
"To you, its Detective." Rogers smiled.
"Fine. Detective." Kassidy sighed and rolled her eyes.
"So what else do you do besides roam the Heights causing mayhem?" Rogers asked.
"Not a lot." Kassidy said and shrugged. "You ask a lot of questions for someone who just tried to arrest me."
"I'm just trying to figure out what makes you tick." He replied. She glanced away from him again.
"Weaver told me you were trying to dig up information." She said.
"I am." He replied. Kassidy looked back up at him, her gray eyes full of anger.
"Don't." She said.
"And why not?" Rogers asked. "Got something to hide?"
"Everyone has something to hide Detective." Kassidy said.
"Aye." Rogers said. His blue eyes pierced into her. She bit her lip and looked away again. Roni came back out and set a plate of Nachos in between the two of them.
"Playing nice?" She asked. Kassidy picked up a cheese covered chip and bit into it.
"Trying." Rogers said and narrowed his eyes at Kassidy. He stood up.
"I'm getting back to work, I'll see you out there." He said.
"Looking forward to it Detective." Kassidy smirked.
