A/N: Have some Kassidy/Rogers comedy and then a dramatic cliff hanger :D

As the first wintery chill of the year hit Rogers in the face as he stepped out of his house that crisp morning, he found himself surprised that his mind instantly went to Kassidy. Was she somewhere warm? He hadn't seen too much of her which Roni said usually happened in the aftershock of Will leaving, However to keep him on his toes, Kassidy made sure to keep up her pranks. Just to let him know she was still around. After weeks of not seeing her, he came out one morning to find the air had been let out of all his tires, with a sticky note reading "Miss me Detective? ;) K.C." and the truth was, if he was being honest with himself, he had missed her just a little. Since the day in the bar a couple months back after her drunken rage, She seemed to be avoiding being face to face with him. However as mentioned that didn't stop her from letting him know she was around. The tobacco sauce in his coffee yesterday morning was a playful reminder. Rogers found himself thinking that even though she had for the most part stayed out of trouble and it was peaceful, he almost wished she'd break a window somewhere just so he could see her and know that she was okay. He approached his car and gave the outside of it a once over making sure Kassidy hadn't done anything before he opened the door that he could have sworn he locked last night, not thinking too much about it was probably just a mistake, it had been a long night. He slid into his seat and started the car and began the trip to work. It was entirely too quiet in the car so he turned on the radio until he found a station playing something he liked.

Kassidy, (who unknown to Rogers at the time was sleeping in the backseat) blinked her eyes open aware of the sudden movement of the vehicle. She yawned and sat up to stretch.

"Hey, turn up the radio I like this song." She mumbled.

Rogers let out a startled shout and his fight or flight instincts took over leaving Kassidy to catch an Elbow right to the nose. Rogers swerved to avoid hitting a light post as he took his eyes off the road His tires squealed to a stop on the side of the road.

"Fuck!" He shouted and looked in his rearview mirror at Kassidy holding her nose and groaning with blood seeping between her fingers.

"Fuck!" He repeated and parked the car and took off his seatbelt before reaching into the glove department for some napkins. He turned around in his seat and leaned over to the back taking Kassidy's hand off of her nose and holding the napkins in place tilting her head back.

"Jesus Christ, Kassidy what the hell are you doing in my car?!" He demanded.

"I got cold, and Roni locked up before I could get inside." She said nasally as he applied pressure to her nose. "Those elbows are dangerous Rogers."

"Well, so is sleeping in the back of my car and only making your presence known by telling me to turn up the radio." Rogers barked.

"Hey, you should probably check your backseat. I could have been a serial killer. Or.. a zombie." She said. He sighed heavily and removed the napkins from her nose making sure the bleeding stopped, and put her chin between his thumb and index finger tilting her head around to examine her nose.

"Well, its not broken." He muttered.

"Thank you Doctor Detective." She smiled and raised an eyebrow at him. He couldn't help but return her smile. It wasn't exactly the way he wanted to see her again, but it was at least something. She looked away from him and picked up her backpack off the floor board and put it over her shoulders.

"I uh.. I can go now." She said.

"Well where are you going? I'll drop you off." Rogers offered.

"No thanks Detective I prefer walking." Kassidy replied. Rogers moved aside to let her climb over the seats. She put her hand on the door handle and hesitated.

"How...are you doing?" He asked.

"I'm good." She smiled over her shoulder and tucked her hair behind her ears. "See you around." She said and got out of the car closing the door behind her.

Kassidy slid into her normal spot at the bar. Roni turned around.

"What happened to your face?" She asked.

"It met Detective Rogers elbow." Kassidy replied with a smirk. Roni sighed.

"What did you do?" She asked.

"Why do you automatically assume I have done something?" Kassidy asked with an innocent smile.

"Have you met yourself?"

"Relax, it was an accident. I slept in the back of his car last night and startled him on his way to work, and even if he almost broke my nose the look on his face...worth it." Kassidy laughed.

"How did you get into his car?" Roni asked. Kassidy gave her a look.

"The same way I get into any locked car Roni. You had already locked up here, and I don't mess with your place. So I went there."

"While I appreciate that you don't break into my bar, It would have been better than getting elbowed in the face. Its supposed to get cold again tonight. I really wish you would just stay with me."

"I'm fine Roni, I've already found a spot for myself tonight." Kassidy shrugged. Roni put her hands on her hips.

"Oh yeah? Where would that be?" She asked.

"All you need to know is that I am fine." Kassidy replied.

"You are impossible sometimes. you know that?"

"Of course I know." Kassidy smiled.

"So did you and Rogers talk any?" Roni asked.

"Well not really, After he made sure my nose wasn't broken I kind of left. Why?" Kassidy asked.

"Well its just he comes in a lot. He asks about you."

"Has he not gotten my notes?" Kassidy asked.

"Oh, he gets them. I think the one you left with his hot sauce flavored coffee yesterday was his personal favorite." Roni laughed. Kassidy smiled to herself.

"So why are you avoiding him?" Roni asked.

"Avoiding Rogers? I'm not avoiding him." Kassidy tucked her hair behind her ears and glanced away from Roni as she spoke.

"You are avoiding him." Roni argued. "You have been ever since Will left."

Kassidy flinched at the mention of Will. It had been a couple months yet this time when he left it hit her harder than before.

"I'm not avoiding him Roni. I'm keeping him at arms length because he keeps looking at me, with those eyes.. and that smile and I don't want any part of that and if he really knew me he wouldn't want it either. No one does." Kassidy said and stood up. "I'm going to go. I'll see you tomorrow." She said. Roni sighed and nodded as the bar phone rang and she went to answer it.

"Hello?" She answered and then raised an eyebrow. "Yeah. shes...right here" She said and handed the phone to Kassidy

"Its for you." She said.

"For me? Who the hell would call me?" She asked and put the phone to her ear. "Hello?"

"Kassi." Wills voice came through.

"Will?!" Kassidy practically cried. "Why are you calling me? Why did you leave me again? You said you wouldn't you fucking prick!" She screamed.

"Kassi, love listen to me. I need you to *Static* Seattle."

"What? You're breaking up." Kassidy said.

"Get *Static* Seattle. *Static* dangerous"

"Will I can't understand you!" Kassidy said with growing concern.

"I have to go" *Static* Love *Static* You"

"Will wait!" Kassidy begged "I can't hear you!" There was a sudden shout on the other end of the line and it was disconnected.

"Will?? Will!" Kassidy cried.
