Halfway through the game it started to rain. They played through it at first, but then it started raining to the point where thunder and lightning appeared. You can't play baseball or softball when there is lightning. It's against the rules. Now everyone was crowded under the gazebo. The teams were together talking and laughing. Families were talking. Some people were eating. And here I am, massaging my temples because I was annoyed, agitated, and in pain. I got a head ache out of no where and every loud noise made me want to strangle the source. I heard my name whispered so many times I wanted to go up to those people annd slap them. I just want to go home, but the rain dialed back down a drizzle. They were just waiting the required amount of time until they could play again.
I was drinking a Monster. I was on my third one today trying to give myself the energy I didn't have. I sighed and tilted my head back. I suddenly had the feeling that someone was watching me creep into the back of my mind. I looked around and didn't see anyone looking at me. I shook the feeling away and took a long swig of my Monster. Thenswig alone drained half the can. It wasn't until then that I realised that the person who was watching me was behind me. I turned my head and saw Parker sitting on top of the table behind mine. Then he got up and walked towards me. Wait, towards me? That doesn't make any sense. He dosn't even like me. After all, he was the one who stopped talking to me. There was a confused look on my face. There was no denying it.
"Is there something you need?" I ask, as he stops in front of me.
He held his hands up in the air and spoke. "Look I know you probably don't want me talking to you, I get it."
"Then why are you hear?" I ask raising my eyebrows. He was wearing a purple tee with a red hoodie over it. His brown hair was messy, like it always was, but it was a good messy, like he did it himself. His grey eyes were twinkling and he was tapping his foot. "Where's Tyler? I haven't seen him since I got here," I say, tilting my head in curiosity.
"I just wanted to apologize for what Tyler said before," he breathes out.
"Well as much as I appreciate you trying to apologize for what he did, don't worry about it. You weren't the one who did anything anyways," I mumble. Technially he has done something. Just not today. Not yet at least. I finish off my Monster and stand up to throw it away.
"You know you shouldn't slam so many of those in one sitting," he says.
"Who said that?" I asked.
"No one. I've heard that they're bad for the heart. That's all," he shrugs his shoulders.
"Well I guess that's my problem then. Not yours," I say.
"Look Jenny. Don't me mad at me. I didn't tell Tyler to do or say any of those things," he turns away and takes a step forward, but turns back to me. "If it makes you feel any better I sent Tyler home."
"Thanks I guess," I say.
He nods his head and walks away to his parents who were watching us. I ignored what he said about the energy drinks. I bought another one and drank half the bottle within the first sip. I looked right at him when I drank it and after I was done I saw the smallest of smiles dance across his lips. I on,y scowled. He can't just be a total ass for multiple years and then be nice to me just like that. It doesn't work that way. It never has. It never will.
