"What?" I asked annoyed.
"Why are you mad at me? I didn't do anything," he protests.
"Sorry Ryan, your right. You didn't do anything. What's up?" I ask.
"You want to come down to the lake with some teammates and I?" He asked.
"I wasn't planning on doing anything," I lean against th door frame and look at him.
"Do you have anything better to do?" He raised his eyebrows at me.
"No," I admit as I look down.
"Then come with us," he reasons
"What should a bring?" I ask.
"A swim suit obviously. And we have drinks and food on the boat, so you don't need money. That's it, I guess." He shrugs his shoulders.
"Alright cool," I say.
"Be at our house in like ten okay?" He turns around and starts to walk back to his home.
"What is with you being so last minute with everything?" I yell.
"It's just the way I do things," he calls over his shoulder. I laugh and go back inside. I guess I wasn't going to be taking any naps today, but that was okay. Ryan's teammates were cool. I didn't have a problem with them. I ran upstairs and found my American Flag bikini. It had the stripes on top and then the stars on the bottom. It was one or the suits where it could be strapless, or you could put the small and skinny strap on. That's what I did. Then I put my sweatshirt on over it and some shorts just so people wouldn't think I was in my underwear, even though I'm not. I grabbed one of many Adidas draw string bags and put an extra change of clothes in there along with my phone, iPod and headphones, and my eight SPF tanning lotion. I slung the bag over my shoulders. I'm ready.
Then I walked back downstairs grabbing my keys. I know I wasn't driving, but I have a housekey on them and if I got home late or early I'll be able to get in. I don,t need to get locked out of my own house. I stepped out the front door and then locked it behind me. I hurried across the street and up the Brookes' driveway. When I knocked on the door one of his teammates, Pete answered. I smiled and walked past him. I walked into the kitchen and leaned against the island. "So who is all here?" I ask looking around the room. I knew Pete was here, but who else? As I looked around the room I saw Ash, Ryan, and sadly my eyes lastly ended on Parker. I scowled.
"Patrick and Danny are coming with Deven. They're bring their dad's boat," Ryan informs.
"Okay," I say. Patrick and Danny are probably the only twin siblings I know who don't fight. It's crazy when you really think about it.
"Alright is everyone ready because we probably should go now. Danny texted me and said they left," Ash tells everyone.
"Yeah I guess. Do you guys have everything?" Ryan looks around at everyone.
"I want passanger," I chime.
"What? No," Pete protests.
"Um yes," I mimmick the tone he was using. Everyone laughs and then I hear my phone ring. "Just hold on," I say. I dig through my bag until I find my phone. "Hello?" I answer shrugging my bag on my shoulders. Everyone walks out of the room including Parker, who had the keys. I followed without saying a word.
"Are we still on for dinner Jenny?" I hear my mom's voice say.
"Oh um I'm going to the lake with friends and I don't know what time I'll be home. Sorry. Maybe another night?" Parker held the door to the garage open for me and closed it after I went through. I went to the car we were using and hopped into the passanger seat.
"Oh that's fine." She sounded a little hurt, but she didn't say anything.
"Thanks mom," I smile even though she can't see me.
"Honey is Parker going?" She asked. My cheeks reddened. I looked out the window so no one would notice, hopefully.
"Yes. Why does it matter?" I ask trying not to have my voice crack.
"Well you two don't get along well, so I was just wondering. There isn't anything else else going on between you two is there?" I could see her smiling all the way from here.
"No!" I nearly screamed.
"Use protection!"
"Oh my god mom!" I cry. "That's gross. Why would you even think about something like that? You know what? I don't want to know. I'll talk to you when I get home."
"Love you," she says, but I hang up before she can say anything else.
"What?" Ryan asked.
"My mom," I answer.
"What did she say?" Ash asked.
"No. I'm not telling." I cross my arms.
"Why not?" Ryan asked.
"Because it was gross," I state, shuddering. Even though I liked Parker, I would never want to do that. Not now and not for a very long time. I didn't want that.
"Well that only makes us interested in the topic more," Parker says from next to me.
"Even more the reason not to tell you or anyone in this car." I lean my head back. I sigh and dig into my bag my my iPod and headphones. I put them in and find the song I didn't pay attention to what song was song. I just listened. And if the boys had a problem with what, well I really didn't care. Then again; why should I?
