"Jenny what did you get for number seven?" Derek asks me.
"I'm working on it now!" I answer with a smile. I've started over. I actually made friends. And I'm trying harder than I ever have in both school and softball.
"Hey when is the pizza getting here?" Amanda asks, looking up from her notebook.
"It should be coming soon," Alex says. "I ordered it like twenty minutes ago."
"Pizza delivery is always slow. Just give it a few more minutes," I say, shaking my head. They are always hungry. Just then there was a knock at the door.
"Jenny go get your door," Derek whines.
"I'm going, I'm going," I say, setting my notebook and calculator on the ground. I glide over to the door and open it without looking at it.
"Alex grab my wallet. I need to pay the pizza guy!" I shout.
"I don't know where it is. Get it yourself!" She yells to me. I sigh and turn towards the open door.
"Can you just wait and let me get my, oh," my voice drifts off into nothing.
                              "Hey," he says.
"Jenny where is the pizza? Who are you talking to?" Derek asks from the living room.
                              "It's just a friend. It'll only take a minute," I call back.
                              "Who's that?" Parker asks.
"That's Derek," I answer. A look of confusion washes over his face. "He's just a friend," I clarify.
"That's cool," he says forcing a smile upon his lips.
"Do you want to come in? I'm sure you're here for a reason," I say, turning towards the inside of the apartment. I hear him come in and close the door behind him. I walk down the hallway and enter the living room. This is awkward. I haven't seen Parker in person since I left. Six months. That's a long time. We have barely spoken to each other. We've both been busy.
"Everyone this is Parker my friend from Tennesse," I introduce, thrusting him forward.
"When you described him you weren't kidding. He really is hot," Alex said.
"Alex," I hiss. She only laughs.
"Hot?" Parker raises his eyebrows at me.
"Let's go talk in the bedroom," I suggest. I start to drag him off. Alex, Amanda, and Derek whistle.
"Keep it PG! We're trying to study!" Derek yells. I roll my eyes. After we got in the bedroom I shut the door. Immediately I hugged him.
"You have no idea how good it is to see a familiar face," I whisper into his chest.
"I missed you too," he whispers back.
"So who are all those people?" He asks, letting go of me.
"I'm tutoring them," I reply. If only someone could have tutored me on love all those months ago. Maybe I wouldn't have broken my own heart. But now that he is here in Arizona instead of Tennessee, it makes up for everything. I don't even know why he's here. He shouldn't be. I made my decision in Tennessee. But maybe, just maybe, it was the wrong one. Maybe I'm meant to be with Parker all along. Just maybe. Maybe.
