Chapter 27

So when the weekend came Avneil were excited to plan their holiday. When they informed their family members of the lucky draw win, everyone was happy for them. Despite the teasing of 2nd honeymoon all the elders were happy that they would take some time off to spend with each other. Avni and neil had locked dates 1 month away for the trip and applied for their visas and leave accordingly. Neil was happy to see how enthusiastic Avni was. She was obsessed with researching the must see and must do things in Rome and Venice and although Neil was also excited about the trip he felt that his feelings paled in comparison to the avni. She was learning basic Italian phrases through the DuoLingo app on her phone and practising it with him every morning and night! She was like a strict school teacher teaching him the words and phrases he learnt the previous day and making him repeat them. And if neil complained and started talking in hindi she would just give him her best puppy dog expression and he would melt like butter on a hot plate. In addition she had a list of all the places to see and she was making her famous "list" which was growing by the day. Neil was left wondering how they were going to do so much in only 6 days.unfortunately both of them would not get more time off than that. In order to feel like he was also contributing to the trip planning he told avni that he would book the tickets and hotel. Avni was also brushing up her history on ancient roman civilization, Renaissance etc. so that she would have some context when they visited the famous places. Neil was trying hard to pay attention whenever avni mentioned anything but poor guy had always hated history even in school. He felt that he would simply listen to avni and other tour guides to understand things when he saw them! Honestly all neil wanted to do was whisk avni away to a far away land where no one knew them and they could just be alone with no interruptions and spend their entire time together. For him this trip was mainly about the romance! But his wifey as usual was a bit of a tubelight and had far too many plans but neil decided that once they went on the trip he would make sure that she was on the same track as him! ;)

Both of them were counting down the days to their holiday. It was a much needed getaway for them both. Neil had even set up a separate calendar to cross of the days to their honeymoon and stuck it on his wardrobe. Eventually when they were only 2 days away from D-day they got down to packing for the trip. Neil knew that this was again Avni's department. And Avni also had asked him to just hand over whatever he needed to carry- mainly just his clothes and put the rest of his essentials- like his travel documents, grooming kit into a backpack of his own. While she as usual had made a travel checklist and was accordingly packing the stuff to take. When she was finally done what blew neil away was that she had fit everything into a single suitcase! He was quite impressed with wifey's ability to travel light and also pack everything into just one bag. He knew it was not because she had missed out stuff because she was checking items off her list after she had packed them!

As the D-day drew closer they were both mega thrilled to be taking their first international adventure together. After bidding their family bye they made their way to the airport .

They had an uneventful flight which was mainly spent just watching a movie or two and cuddled together in their economy seats which was fairly cramped but they didn't mind because gave them an excuse to just lean on each other every-time they felt the need to stretch!

As they landed in Roma they were all set for the beginning of their Roman holiday!

So basically this was a filler chapter. I have a bunch of ideas brimming in my head but i'm not sure how to put it all down. So i decided to go through some old photos for inspiration! It made me super nostalgic and I hope it will get you all excited for the honeymoon too! here's a look at some of the sights and sounds of Italy which Avneil will explore together. These pictures were clicked by me when I traveled back in 2012. Its NOT downloaded from google images! :D I had gone alone but someday I wish I could go back with a special someone! ;) filhal toh koi scope hi nahi hai but maybe someday i can go back!
