Chapter 30

Ok quick and short update for you guys! It's just some avneil fluff! Nothing OTT or dramatic...but hope you all like it!

Avni woke up early next morning in her husband's warm embrace. As she turned and looked at him with her sleep laden eyes she could only gaze at him with a soft smile on her face. He looked so peaceful as he slept. She leaned over and placed a feather light peck on his cheek and she was elated to see that almost immediately there was a smile on his face,as if he recognised her touch. Avni just continued to gaze at him as if admiring a piece of art. His handsome face with the perfectly trimmed beard that she absolutely loved to feel against her skin...the sharp angle of his jaw. His eyes which were closed now but when open were a beautiful hazel colour which appeared to twinkle when he smiled, shone with mirth when he pulled her leg and were fierce when he dealt with criminals at work. Avni sighed in contentment as she felt the slow rise and fall of his chest and the steady beating of his heart under her palm placed on his chest. She snuggled closer to him just enjoying the warmth he provided. She was lost in thoughts- random memories they had together, things that she wanted to experience with him, plans for today....she wanted to do something special for him for all the pampering she got from him.. from getting such a great hotel, the wine n strawberries, the bubble bath....Neil was had been so extravagant with his surprise...he made her feel like she was in some movie being romanced by a hero.she was suddenly snapped out of her thoughts by the husky voice of her one and only husband.Neil- subah subah kis soch me doobi ho wifey?Avni- startled by his voice-over turns up to look at him - huh?Neil- chuckled lightly at her and repeated himself- what's on your mind?Avni- you. She said simplyNeil just grinned at her and said - accha? And in a sudden movement he had flipped her such that she was now under him caged in between his arms as he hovered above herAvni- good morning husband! She said sweetlyNeil- leaned in and fused their lips together. He gave her a gentle and loving kiss and moving back he said- NOW it's a good morning. Avni looked at him- his messy bed hair, the goofy smile he had currently and she couldn't help but grin back at him, tightening her hands around him and all she could say was - I love you DCP Neel KhannaNeils eyes widened with surprise. Avni was very loving but she was usually a bit shy to say the 3 words...she would show him in multiple ways how much he meant to her, ...but it was rare to hear just the plain and simple I love you. Actually it wasn't rare...she said it every morning but only when she thought he was asleep! So to hear it when he was wide awake was a pleasant surprise. Suddenly he realised he hadn't replied to avni yet. He flipped her over so that she now lay on top of him, he cupped her face and said- I love you too Mrs Avni Neil Khanna! He watched as avni's smile brightened up more at his declaration and this time she initiated the kiss- it was a slow but extremely passionate kiss.Neil- wifey, aaj kya hogaya...ye chamatkar kaise? Subah subah ITNA romance...chakkar kya hai? He asked her teasinglyAvni- what do you mean?! She asked him angrilyNeil- quickly- arey sorry baba, main mazak kar Raha tha...Avni just hmmed and wrapped her arms around his torso burrowing her face into his chest...while Neil just played with her hair, stroking it as he enjoyed her entire weight on top of him.Their moment was disturbed by avni's alarm. Avni picked up her phone to turn it off and said- time to explore some more! Chalo let's get ready ! She was about to get off him but Neil pulled her back down on top of him.Neil- correct wifey...he started placing a trail of kisses on her cheek and down her neck as he said- its time (kiss) for(kiss) us(kiss) to (kiss) explore (kiss) ...he paused to look into her eyes- EACH OTHER! He winked completing the sentence. Avni involuntarily blushed as she heard this and Neil loved the effect he had on her. Avni- neil...hum late hojayenge na, there's so much to see and tomm morning we have to leave to Florence also...Neil - Avni yaar...it's a vacation. Humne koi appointment nahi le rakha hai that we have to be everywhere on time! He proceeded to place more kisses while his hands were moving all over her back and waist. Avni knew that she would lose all control if he continued his ministrations like this...her breathing was already getting rapid and she whispered - Neil please...I really want to do everything on the list! Neil was in no mood to listenAvni- accha I'll tell you what- why don't we take a picture together at every place we visit from now onNeil- Avni, we are already doing that! Avni- yeah but we're not kissing in those pictures...she whispered huskily in his earNeil- are you serious? Avni- yeah she blushed- we can have a private album of those pictures.Neil- vaah meri sherni ... Yahan ki hava lagne ka kaafi accha asar hua hai tum par! He brushed back some of her hair strands and placed a quick peck on her lips and said- chalo fatafat ready hote hai!Avni just chuckled at his sudden enthusiasm to get ready now!So as discussed Avni and Neil explored some more sights of the city - like the Pantheon, Castle Sant' Angelo, Capitoline Hill, Roman Forum, Piazza Navona. And at each of these places they took some pictures together with full on PDA! Neil couldn't help but chuckle at how smart his wifey was....she had found the perfect incentive for him to agree to see everything on the list because it meant that he would get one more location to kiss at! They also picked up some souvenirs for their family and friends. Neil bought some magnets to stick on the metal cupboard in the room and he decided to add one magnet for every place they'd visit together. He hoped to have a huge collection in a few years! He noticed Avni looking at the many postcards on display..Avni- neil, I'm feeling bad for these postcards...Neil- kya? Ms Ajooba, tum ek hi piece ho pata hai. Normally people feel bad for other people, not non living things like a postcard! Avni- neil, look na, they have such beautiful pictures on them but aajkal everyone has a camera phone plus nobody writes letters or cards anymore, so no one buys these....pata hai I always felt like letters have this old world charm about them....must be nice na to get letters, wait for it to come, to open it and see the handwritten words...no email or text can match the charm of a letter or postcard! Neil- hmm..but now we don't have to wait for a letter, we can see the person in front of us on a video call..isn't that pretty cool too!Avni- yeah I guess...she said wistfullyThey were interrupted by a call exactly then from their family. Avni and Neel gave them all a quick update about everything they had seen and promised to send some pictures too.They hung up and quickly wrapped up their souvenir shopping.Even though both Avni and Neil were having the time of their life and they were exhausted by evening. They had an early train to Florence the next day so they didn't stay up too late and enjoyed their last day in the 5 star ambience too...Because Avni had cancelled the rest of their star reservations and booked more economical Airbnbs for the rest of their trip!
