(Rue)
I rush home. I totally forgot about the book. I grab the translation book, and the small brown book, that was hidden behind my bookshelf.
"Okay, how am I going to do this?" I mutter to myself.
I look at the books title, then try and match it with the same lettering in the translation book.
It takes me some time, but piece by piece I manage to translate it."Ancient Wind History And Language."
Nice choice Rue.
"Let's see," I say, flipping to the first page.
I stare at the tiny little words.
I look back and forth from the two books, then write the translated English words in a new fresh notebook. I don't care how long this will take, I'm determined to find out why I can do what I do with the wind.I don't know how long I sat at my desk, translating.
It felt felt like hours, and hours. was long enough to give me a major headache, and neck cramp.
But the good part is that, the longer I translated, the more I memorized, and halfway through the book, I memorized the entire alphabet in the strange lettering, so I didn't even have to look at the translations book.
I also gave up the writing part all together. There's no need if I can read it now, and what if someone finds my translated papers?I ask the wind to shred the papers, the wind obeys to my command, and tears them to bits, allowing them to shower over me, like falling snow.
The gust collects the bits and pieces, then throws them in my trash.I continue reading, and reading, and reading, and oh, it felt like forever.
I flip to the next page, happy to see its another chapter. But the title gets my attention.
"Evil & wind."
I sit back on my bed, and I get comfortable.
I read the next words."Evil has been among Liths for trillions of years.
Attempting to bend the winds into their own personal slaves and weapons.
These types of evil, have trained in our ways, followed our rules, until they decided they wanted their own.
Manny have been caught, captured, and imprisoned. But some are still loose, plotting their next attacks.
The last attack occurred 18 years ago."
I check the back, it was made 40 years ago, that means it's been 60 something years, since the last attack.
"Elite Liths were captured, and killed, sadly none survived, and only three of the captors were caught.
Only one was smart enough to to escape, and couldn't save the rest.
The man who survived, by the name Arcayous falvious, an 22 year old, described his captors with, "long black and grey robes lined with weapons and gadgets."
This man also explained how these people called the wind mentally, and tied the drafts around his victims, and choked, or squeezed them to death. It is said that, these people were tweaked with at birth, allowing them to have more abilities, and are more powerful than normal Liths. One of the more enhanced abilities involve, calling and directing the wind mentally.
Any Lith born of these powers, are the decedents of these captors with no name."I drop the book on the floor.
"No, no, no."
I cover my face in my hands. This can't be, it can't!
I cover my mouth, shaking my head. No I won't cry for this, what am I saying? I'm the decedent of evil killers!
But I don't k ow that for sure. That's why this stuff comes so easy for me.
shove the book in a bag, then in a box, and then I place it all the way behind my bookshelf at the bottom, out of sight.
I can't let anyone know about this, not yet at least.
I can't risk letting anyone finding out, if they do, il be kicked out, banned even.
I start to shake, my lungs scream for air.
I need air.
I grab my sweater, and head outside.
I breath, in, and out, in, and out, until my breathing calms.
I can't go back into that stuffy room, even worse that book is in there.
I sigh, then zip up my sweater, and continue walking.
The chilly air nips at my face, and runs through my hair, filling my lungs with fresh air.I'm really hopping I don't run into Jack, he always has a way of popping up out of no where.
But suddenly, a voice from behind me calls,
"Hey, Rue."
I sigh, but then realize it isn't a guys voice, it's a girls.
"Hey," Ivory, from the library says.
"I was hoping I'd run into you today."
I smile.
"Nice to see you to."
"So, where are you going?"
"Now where actually, just, going for a walk," I say.
"Cool, well, if you aren't doing anything, wanna come to the library with me?"
"Ya, for sure," I say.
"I don't think the library's far from here, we could walk the rest."
"Ya," she agrees.
"Some fresh air would be nice."
And with that she starts to walk, and I follow alongside her."So, how's training?" She asks.
"Fine, I guess, I'm getting stuff pretty quickly."
"Are you now, that's what I hear, I even heard your now the fastest to figure out your animal, first try, nice, and a cat even better."
"Wait?" I say turning to face her.
"How d'you know that?"
She laughs.
"Jack told Jason, his best friend, and I happen to be friends with Jason."
"Oh."
"And if you ever meet Jason."
She shakes her head.
"He's, quite a flirt."
I laugh.
"Oh."
"Yeah."
We approach up to the library, and I unzip my sweater.
"What's your animal?" I ask. I
She looks down at the floor"I, um...I haven't mastered it yet, soon probably."
"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't mean to..."
"No it's fine you didn't know," she says.
We enter the building, and take our shoes off.
Then we head for the back of the library, and sit down on an old wooden table.
"Oh no," I mutter under my breath.
Apparently Ivory heard me, and was about to ask me what, when a familiar figure, and another approaches our table.
"Hey Rue."
"Hey Jack."
Seriously, he had to come now.
