(Jack)
I dangle from the wall, in silence.
Sialem by my side.
"So," he says.
"This Rue, how long have you known her?"
I pause.
"I saw her in a cafe at London.
I knew she was a Lith when she broke my wind barrier."
"Ya, about wind barriers, why can't I break this one?"
Should I tell him, should I spill her secret?
I mean, I can trust him, but I decide not to tell him.
I shrug.
"Not sure, but she's extremely strong, and powerful.
She's best with the wind on her side."
Sialem smirks at me.
"You guys got a thing going on?" He asks cheekily.
I look at the floor.
"I'm not sure, I mean, I don't know."
He sighs.
"I feel ya."
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"Well, the same thing happened to me."
"What do you mean?" I ask again.
"Her name was Amalia."
"What happened to her?"
"She's gone," he says to the floor.
"Oh," I say.
"I'm sorry, but how is that supposed to help me?"
He pauses
"If I'd gone after her, she's still be here. You have to go after her, unlike I did, you still have time."
"But how do I get out of this?" I ask.
"If you have that big of a connection with her, call the wind, the one thing the wind is vulnerable to, is blind love."
He turns away.
"But, how do-"
Sialem's snoring cuts me off.
I lean to look at him, and see his head lolling back, and loud snoring noises coming from deep in his throat.
I sigh, then beg the wind to release me, then I try what Sialem told me.
The wind is vulnerable to one thing only, one thing that is real for me, towards Rue.
I beg one more time, and I feel the wind loosen.
The wind believes me, as it should.
